Everyone is singing in English, then Canadian singer Bryan Adams comes along and starts singing in Italian. You can see how delighted Luciano Pavarotti is, with a huge smile on his face. He seems genuinely impressed and deeply appreciative of the respect Bryan is showing, and you can even see him bowing at the end of the song.
There’s something I can learn from this. If everyone showed love and respect for one another, the world would be a much better place.

The whole thing feels like a humiliation ritual through and through, and a message to other minions occupying positions of global and regional power.
Nothing about this is normal or spontaneous. Quite the opposite.
I have just informed my colleagues that I will step down as @ECB President on 7 February 2027.
It has been a source of great pride to serve this institution.
