The @RoehamptonUni management team, known for their class and sophisticated intellect, waited for REF results before announcing #redundancies across all disciplines, and now turning already bullied + frightened colleagues against each other forcing all to reapply for their job💩

If the Humanities are not meant to hold any value, why do our political leaders so often pursue them at university? This is not about the subject being 'soft' or 'unemployable', it is about control of knowledge.

I am in an academic training session about how to stop self-sabotaging & achieve success.
It's taking every ounce of self-control I have not to drop this picture in the chat.
ALT The meme showing a man shooting someone else in the chest then saying 'why would X do this'. I've captioned the man with the gun 'universities' and his victim 'staff', and added the caption 'decades of under-resourcing, over-metricising, & exploitation of precarious labour'. At the bottom the man with the gun is standing and staring solemnly at the camera. The caption reads 'why would our staff self-sabotage like this?'

So Brighton University have carried out their threat of 100% deductions for MAB this month. They say they'll be clawing back pay from May too! And this while they're selecting 24 people for compulsory redundancy. #SaveBrightonUni #BrightonUniStrike #FourFights

Everyone reeling from the discovery that you were only motivated by fear and now have no idea how to motivate yourself, let me just say this here in one place:
Your inner child knows.
Ask them to remind you how to play, which is the natural and default state for ADHD brains.

In all my years. Never have I seen such insensitivity.
@Ofstednews I would welcome a meeting to discuss this.
Tragic. Something has to change. independent.co.uk/news/uk/of…

Today, the University of Roehampton Council will decide whether to approve plans to cull many subjects and decimate others, under the guise of somehow enhancing the ‘student experience’. The two protests send a clear message to Council: #roestopthecuts @RoehamptonUCU @ProtestUoR
ALT Protest sign which reads ‘If a Uni treats it’s staff like trash, how will it trade it’s students?’
ALT Protest sign reading ‘people over profits’

Given the Uni's success with working class students in 'elite' subjects, it's an attack on social mobility based on fake economics. ACT NOW! @RoehamptonUCU @ProtestUoR

A disgraceful state of affairs. After all staff working so hard over the years to make Roehampton a successful University it will be a non-university. How do they think they will attract any students going forward?

Are senior managers of @RoehamptonUni listening to students? The rest of the world is!

Our students understand what these brutal cuts mean for them and their incoming fellow students #Roestopthecuts @RoeSSAH @nusuk
Incoming students are not being accurately informed on the changes to the courses that are being advertised to them. This is wrong.
Join the @RoehamptonUCU in protest against the fire and rehire scheme forced upon our lecturers, on the 9th of July on campus. #RoeStopTheCuts

"Are we really going to be comfortable in a society that has decided that subjects that promote critical thinking, the beauty of language and literature ... should in the future be reserved only for a privileged elite?"

Very true. Thanks @sweale @guardian but what is happening at Roehampton is a slaughter that will have a dire impact on underprivileged youths of the local area, and it deserves more coverage @ProtestUoR @RoeSSAH @VRoehampton @UCU @mrjamesob #roestopthecuts
@sweale @guardian Thanks for referring to the swingeing job cuts at Roehampton Uni. My wife is a lecturer there. But you’re not doing the story justice mentioning it in par 5 & no dedicated article to it yet! It’s much bigger than Sheffield Hallam. Contact @RoehamptonUCU @RoeSSAH

‘When [students] return in September they will find many of their lecturers, supervisors and academic guidance tutors gone, and their own opportunities blighted’. Remind us again, how these cuts are going to benefit us? Just one reason, as a little treat? #roestopthecuts
