Why is #RishiSunak so obsessed with individuals’ tax bills? Did he go into politics for purely selfish reasons? And if not, why does he assume all voters are only self-interested? Might we not care about the common good? #GeneralElection #bbc @MishalHusain @BBCr4today

Alexey's lawyer and his mother have arrived at the Salekhard morgue. It's closed, however, the colony has assured them it's working and Navalny's body is there. The lawyer called the phone number which was on the door. He was told he was the seventh caller today. Alexey's body is not in the morgue.

Russia's prison service says "the causes of his death are not clear". In fact it's blindingly obvious the regime killed him - either by murder or deliberate neglect - and that no such decision could be made without Vladimir Putin's personal authorisation
I’ve rarely read such evocative descriptions of #HampsteadHeath as in #StellaGibbons’ novel #EnburyHeath (pub. 1935, repr 2021). Can see, hear & smell it from the page. @CityCorpHeath @HandHSocHeath @ellinst @payne_helen @HGSColin

This morning, police raids are taking place at the homes of three of Navalny's lawyers. One of them is detained, and we cannot get hold of the other two. The charge is "participation in an extremist group."
Navalny is now left without any legal defence and representation.

Three of Navalny's lawyers were searched this morning, one was detained. The reason is "participation in an extremist community". It is clear why this is being done: it is another step towards isolating Alexey @navalny and essentially banning him from receiving legal assistance.
