This coming Saturday, my cousin John T would have turned 43 years old. He & I, for 41 years of his life and 39 of mine, were like brother & sister. It’s true some poems just come back & come back all your life, sometimes as you’re pulling your own long hair from the tub’s drain.

16 years ago the lives of 32 people at Virginia Tech were cut short by gun violence. Sadly the pain and loss of that day feels too familiar as more communities and schools experience the deadly trauma of mass shootings. We must take action to prevent this from happening again.
