23 votes • 2 daysQuestion 🚨❔: Why have there been so many influential collectors that come on @ComicsandCrypto & completely freeze up (and say absolutely nothing) when asked if they’ve ever heard of @veve_official, or if they are following the digital collecting space?
🤓 📺
Why are so many physical collectors, fading, bitter, or non-responsive to digital?
Do they not see the value?
Do they not care for the medium?
Do they not think a collecting future lies in digital and physical?

My mind is blown by how far ahead Apple is with local LLMs. The new Mac Studio M5 Ultra will have a 512 GB model for around 15-20k. You can chain 6 of them together using thunderbolt 5 and this have over 3 TB of ram and a massive amount of CPU and GPU cores. This means you can run a frontier model with over 2 trillion parameters locally for around 100kish. Nivida is around 500k for the same capability.

When I was writing Unreal Engine 1, my time was divided as follows:
- Around 30% went to seriously deep coding on hard problems: assembly language texture mappers, C++ BSP trees, data persistence, object oriented systems design, and networking.
- Around 70% was just typing and refactoring large bodies of code needed for a complete engine feature set. This was not hard, and while I was doing it my mind was mostly on the deeper coding topics, thinking and planning for what's next. It didn't feel much different from vibe coding today, except that it was just me typing code on an IBM Model M keyboard rather than prompting it and reviewing the results.
So, it has always seemed perfectly logical that we would rely on AI for that 70%, once the AI could do it with a similar quality standard as we could, which has never been perfection. It came as no surprise that, after a few years of AI model evolution, it was able to take the reigns on that 70% and free up programmers' time for more valuable tasks.
What's more of a surprise is the emergence of AI as a sort of insta-Carmack able to solve hard technical problems quite cleverly and often cleanly, and that it's able to reason about and work in complex 3D scenes both by operating the tools and by directly understanding the raw data files.
I abandoned assembly language in 1998 when out-of-order CPUs made much simpler C/C++ code faster, and never I missed it. If prompting through architectural documents, concept art, and design plans can transcend typing code and tweaking vertices, that will enable developers to spend their time on higher-level, higher value technical and creative tasks.
What matters is the end product, whether it's a game or an engine. Anything developers can do to try out more ideas and make better software and games faster is a win for everyone.

Imagine taking your cards to a local shop and getting them graded and slabbed without mailing them away. 👀
That’s the vision behind @TAGgrading’s proposed Remote Grading Pods: bringing its grading technology into stores, with cards encapsulated on-site.
The potential benefits for collectors are HUGE:
📦 Less shipping expense: Local grading could eliminate the need to pay for shipping and transit insurance to and from a grading facility.
🔒 Less transit risk: Fewer opportunities for valuable cards to get lost, stolen, or damaged during shipping.
⏱️ Faster access: On-site processing could cut out shipping time and potentially shorten the wait to get your cards back.
🌎 Greater accessibility: If deployed internationally, pods could make grading more practical for collectors facing expensive overseas shipping and complicated submission logistics.
🔍 More transparency: Bringing TAG’s detailed, technology-assisted grading closer to collectors could make it easier to understand a card’s condition and why it received its grade.
For card shops, this could also become a new service that brings collectors through the door.
TAG describes the pods as an ultimate goal. This statement doesn’t provide a launch date, pricing, locations, or guaranteed turnaround time.
Execution will matter, but the potential is exciting.
