Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh says, "When I was the Education Minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, I did not know much Sanskrit. I understood a little. At that time, there were three question papers for Hindi, and the third question paper was half Hindi and half Sanskrit. Brothers and sisters, I immediately ordered that the third question paper should be entirely in Sanskrit, and made it compulsory. But later, when another government came to power, the decision was repealed. That still pains me, and that is why I have come to this programme. During my tenure as Education Minister, I also introduced Vedic Mathematics. As far as Vedic Mathematics is concerned, I have been a student of Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry, and I can say that Vedic Mathematics is still unparalleled..."

Watch | Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, "I implemented Vedic Mathematics during my tenure as Education Minister. As for the subject itself, having been a student of physics, mathematics, and chemistry, I can say that Vedic Mathematics remains unparalleled. Brothers and sisters, solutions to even the most complex problems can be found using the Vedic method. You might be surprised to learn that Vedic Mathematics is taught at the London School of Economics. Once Yogi-ji becomes the Chief Minister here again, I will urge him to ensure that Vedic Mathematics is taught in all schools here as well..."

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Nepal as they face the devastating impact of the recent flash floods. 🇳🇵
This tragedy has claimed lives, displaced families, and caused immense destruction to homes, livelihoods, and critical infrastructure. As rescue teams work tirelessly to search for the missing and provide relief to those affected, we stand in solidarity with every individual, family, and community enduring this difficult time.
May those who have lost loved ones find strength and comfort, may the injured recover swiftly, and may all those still awaiting news of family and friends receive hope and support. We also extend our deepest gratitude to the rescue workers, volunteers, medical personnel, and relief agencies risking their lives to help others.
In moments like these, humanity comes together beyond borders. Let us keep Nepal in our hearts and prayers and support all efforts to bring relief, healing, and recovery to the affected regions.

From our PM's Blog on the Independence Day 2026
Reclaiming Bharat's Civilisational Consciousness - Narendra Modi
Education as the First Battlefield
Education was colonialism’s primary instrument of inculcating inferiority and the National Education Policy 2020 was its most direct counter. With new reforms under it, like Mother-tongue instruction until Class 5, the NEP 2020 ensured a child is not severed from civilisational knowledge at the root.
Along with this, the Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) initiative embedded Vedic mathematics, Ayurvedic medicine, and philosophy into over 8,000 institutions. The Bharatiya Bhasha Pustak Yojana has published 2.46 lakh textbooks in 22 Indian languages.
For the first time in independent Bharat, education became an instrument of civilisational reclamation rather than cultural erasure. narendramodi.in/reader/recla…
It was truly a humbling and memorable experience to be present at Lok Bhawan and witness the Independence Day celebrations firsthand. Standing amidst an atmosphere filled with patriotism, pride, and gratitude, I was reminded of the immense sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters who dedicated their lives to securing our nation’s independence.
The celebration was more than just a ceremonial event—it was a powerful reminder of the values that define India: unity, resilience, diversity, and the collective spirit of its people. Watching the national flag flutter proudly against the sky, listening to inspiring speeches, and observing the deep sense of respect and devotion displayed by everyone present filled me with a profound sense of national pride.
Moments like these encourage us to reflect on our responsibilities as citizens and inspire us to contribute, in our own ways, toward the progress and prosperity of our nation. Being at Lok Bhawan on this special occasion was both an honor and a privilege, and it left me with a renewed appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy today and the extraordinary journey that has shaped our nation.
As we celebrate Independence Day, may we continue to uphold the ideals of our Constitution, cherish the legacy of our freedom fighters, and work together to build an India that future generations will be proud to inherit. Jai Hind! vedicmathsindia.org
