The Islamists will obviously never denounce any Islamist regime because religious tyranny is normal to them, but western Marxists have grown up in democracies, so they actually know the difference between regimes that respect human rights and those that don't. Their submission to Islamist political leadership, which mandates indifference to the brutality and misogyny and moral vacuity in Iran is therefore doubly reprehensible.

Please spare me the whole "this isn't Canada" rhetoric. A synagogue shot up on the holiest day of the Jewish calendar is exactly what Canada has become.
The reason is clear, moral cowardice.
Whether it's politicians equivocating on the legality of hate rallies against Jews, or university faculty spreading hate under the guise of academic inquiry, society's response of a collective shrug is what has brought us to this dark place.
Until our institutions find the moral courage to rid themselves of those who propagate hate, this darkness will continue to spread.
