Everyone has their own take. Time will tell. Even if he considers or reconsiders (depending on what you believe about that situation) it after the election, I don’t think KLB will be the only moving part that will have to be satisfied. People have to remember that aside from everything else, Ossoff has a pretty young family.

7 Days Out - I'm reasonably confident that the likeliest outcome is that KLB and Aaron Ford both pull it out. But taken separately, I have much more confidence in Ford than KLB. - I can't let go of Iowa, I feel as though everything is in the air for Sand to drag Turek across the line. But if I get one race on that map wrong, I feel like that's going to be it. - There's a thin line between 52 or 53 and 54 or 55 on this map for Democrats. If it's a very good night for them, them picking up KS and SC is not completely insane.

A few things: It's way too early to be extrapolating state polling with any amount of seriousness. It means next to nothing, because we just don't know who will get in, and what the race will look like by the time it gets to California. But I just want to point out that this is not what Newsom needs. And this is on the higher end of Harris needs to do to blunt Newsom. Ideally she can get it closer by the time we get there, but even here, all things being equal this is only a 61-62+ gain for delegates, and he needs more than that for Cali to have an effect.

That would be Driftwood Beshear, Cory Booker, Mark Kelly, Pete Buttigieg and Josh Shapiro. Everyone else named here is up in the air.
I'm only 100% confident of 5 of these names ultimately deciding to run.

CNN updates on 2028 candidates who might run for President: - Beshear plans to launch after the December DGA meeting, when his chairmanship ends - Wes Moore says he’ll take another look after November - Cory Booker has about $20M banked, with a South Carolina and Super Tuesday strategy - Mark Kelly is stumping nationwide, including early states - Pete Buttigieg is stumping nationwide, including early states - Warnock says he’s considering a run - Josh Shapiro, JB Pritzker, Jon Ossoff worked the Hamptons fundraising circuit this summer edition.cnn.com/2026/10/26/p…

I just went and looked for this clip, just for the context. I'm pretty sure he meant that in the sense that when it comes time to pick people like him or Pete Buttigieg, to pick Pete Buttigieg (a la Veepstakes 2024).
Tim Walz when asked what advice he’d give the Democratic Party: “Pick Pete Buttigieg.” Link: edition.cnn.com/2026/10/26/p…

That said, there's going to be plenty of time to talk about this shit in about 9 days. We're going to have at least a month of silence as the battle lines are drawn, and then it'll be 3 or 4 months of shells being lobbed across the no-mans-land. If you're an American, make sure you know where to vote, if you already haven't: vote.org/polling-place-locat…
Here's what you need to take away from the article: 1.) VP Harris is sticking to the proper party line: getting more Democrats elected above anything else. Perhaps that's a consequence of her profile, but she has the luxury of being selective and highly targeted in where she can help. 2.) The disconnect between the party intelligentsia and the average Democrat will eventually come to a head. For every scum consultant with a vested interest in forcing her out, there's a connection to the party's electorate that they cannot simply wish away. Democrats... want to see her. Certain circles don't like admitting it, but she remains broadly popular among Democrats. 3.) She's very aware of the games taking place around her. And she went out of her way to address them, and made it clear that those preoccupied with themselves will suffer the consequences. 4.) The argument we've been making in these parts for nearly a year is beginning to surface elsewhere: that some of the opposition to another Harris candidacy may have less to do with her losing in 2024 and more to do with the prospect of having to compete against her in 2028. 5.) Whether you want to admit it or not, much of the emerging 2028 field is operating in the shadow of what she may or may not decide to do.

It shouldn't be controversial to point out that, for someone with designs on the throne, Pete has a particular problem connecting with a core bloc of voters he'd need to put him on the throne. People joke and exaggerate about it, and sometimes that obscures the underlying problem. But it doesn't change the fact that the problem is very real. And until he addresses it, he's only going to get so far. It's no skin off my nose if he doesn't. I'm just saying.
Not sure how Pete supporters think attacking Kamala is going to help him fix his Black voter problem. You guys need to be more focused on your candidate doing more than the bare minimum to reach out to Black voters. One thing I know for sure. Kamala will do better than Pete in 2028.

Overall, I think the biggest implication is that I think the Democratic establishment has come to the realization that they can't simply declare the Harris era over. If she gets in, the voters will have the opportunity to decide whether or not they want her to lead the party. And they don't have the political means or political leverage to stop it, or her.

As we get past the midterms, we need to chew on this statement. If you follow me, if you’ve listened to my numerous diatribes, you know I’ve alluded to this before. Now it’s starting to rear its head.

This. I'm fine with anyone running. People think I care if so and so gets in, and it's like no, the more the merrier.
Pete running helps Kamala more than anyone else who is likely to run. He divides the white vote, while having no impact on Kamala’s Black, Latino and Asian support. So I’m not against him running. Go ahead, make your case.

Driftwood has kind of been my catchall nickname for the sub-5%ers. But I think it’ll be exclusively Andy’s from now on, especially now that we’re entering the cycle, because he has the personality of driftwood.

An adroit illustration. Very much on the ball.
I think there is quite a bit to be said about a potential 2028 contender who loses sight of the task at hand, and is fixated on enhancing their own profile. I suspect Democratic voters will remember that when the time comes, and it will doom them.
