It's currently 11:15AM and my battery is already 90% full from the 40% it was overnight. I'm currently pumping water now, the freezer is on with a couple of phones charging and it's still charging the battery. After pumping, I'll run the washing machine for some hours and play some game. My Nepa bill will be zero. This is my daily power routine. That's the power of getting your money's worth. Yes solar is not Nepa, but it has definitely made my life much easier.
So I had I get home to take a picture before I drop my piece on this solar Vs Nepa brouhaha. Anyone living in ekiti knows how bad electricity is here. Calling it terrible is an understatement. Before I got my system set-up, my freezer hasn't worked long enough to make ice and I always pump water with my generator. Before setting it up, I talked to a couple of solar guys and my demands were modest. 12 hour run time every day for my freezer. 2 standing fans. Charging for multiple phones and an energy hungry laptop. Lighting points. My 55inch TV. Occasional use of Blender and 1hp pumping machine. Washing machine. Energy efficient iron. All the solar guys were giving me quotes of 3-5 million. So I said fawk it and got to learning more about solar systems. I got to know the different kinds of systems, from 24v to 48v to 400v hybrid and non hybrid systems and different technology of batteries from lead acid to lithium. One thing I realize is that a lot of people overspend on solar and I understand that it can be quite a tricky conversation because some solar installations are complex. But what some installers do is daylight robbery. I was able to get my setup for around 1.7m 4.2kva Inverter = 350k 4.2kwh Battery = 670k 650w JA panels x 4 = 520k Wires and accessories = 140k Installation = 110k I got on jiji, talked to a couple of my friends who has installed solar systems and I was able to get contacts of trusted solar-inverter suppliers. I was able to get the system done at cut price no solar guy would have given me. With this, I've been living off the grid for the past 6 months and I'm not joking. I've not used a single watt from phcn since June. I run my freezer for 10-12hrs everyday. I run my fans nonstop. TV time is nonstop. I charge and use my laptop anytime. During the day, I can game, pump water in the afternoon, turn on the freezer and run the washing machine at the same time. From 10am to around 5pm most days, my loads are supplied directly from solar and the system doesn't touch the batteries. But this system isn't unbeatable. I don't abuse it at night. I don't game at night or run freezer past 7pm and I don't pump at night. I'll take this anyday over one useless nepa that you can never predict when it'll come. The reason why I'm passionate about solar is because I see a lot of people get scammed by solar installer guys. A friend of mine who runs a frozen foods business was scammed by a solar guy. He got a system for around 3.5m. They got him 12 pieces of bad 600w panels, gave him 6 lead acid batteries and one useless 6kva inverter. He enjoyed it for 4 months and then the system started giving him problems. I was able to get him a better system for his needs by swapping the batteries for a 5kwh lithium and getting 6 good Canadian 600w panels. He didn't spend up to 1.8m and now his solar never goes off. I've seen this over and over. Yes solar is not perfect, but all I say is before you start bashing that solar can't solve your problem, make sure that your solar is actually your money's worth. I see many solar guys making adverts of system of 7 million and the true worth is less than 4 million. And that's the catch. It doesn't matter how much you spent on a system, what matters is the actual capacity of that system. That's all I have to say. You can do away now.

Northerners represent us well. These are the real Nigerians who have suffered under Tinubu’s criminal government. Deal with the APCβ€”that is the only way to stay alive. If we fail to remove Tinubu and all APC governors, we are finished.

I really don’t like coming online to post my private life but I guess this is necessary. I was assaulted and harassed by police officers at Somolu today. They claimed that the vehicle that I have been driving for 5 years is stolen because a sticker that carries the plate number of the previous car owner was found on the top left corner of the windscreen of my vehicle After giving them all my up-to-date car documents, including my proof of Ownership documents, they insist my car was a stolen vehicle. How is that possible when I have been renewing my papers and going for car inspections every year for the last 5 years ? Thier claim was just outrageous and wasn’t making any sense to me One of them even went away with my car documents and I do not know where he went to and if he had gone to tamper with them. When I asked where my car papers were, one of them punched me in the chest 3 times. I have it on camera I noticed a pattern of oppression and because I didn’t allow myself to be taken advantage of, they ended up rough handling me, holding me on my trousers like a common criminal and finally towing my car and confiscating in the street in front of their their station at Alade Police station, Balogun street Somolu. The environment do not seem safe and my car is a at risk of vandalism and worse getting stolen if it remains there overnight Their intimidation was for me to be extorted and since I didn’t give them the chance to they decided to lay their hands on me and impound my car. One even called me a criminal in my face and threatened to shoot at me. Please I need this post to reach the right authorities. I have called the police hotline designated to handle cases like this and for over 2 hours they kept telling me they will give me a call back. So at this point I am In the dark. Please help me tag and bring the right authorities attention to this post. @AbimbolaShotayo @PoliceNG_CRU @CspIniedu @PoliceNG I will be attaching video evidence of my assault.
