Meet the artists behind ZERO IS GREATER.
Multidisciplinary artist @Siyababa Atelier challenges conventional ideas of masculinity, sexuality, identity and African tradition, using fashion as a vehicle for cultural storytelling and contemporary expression.
For “Zero is Greater,” Siyababa presents two sculptures inspired by the HIV activists of the early 2000s who demanded dignity, access to treatment and proper healthcare for people living with HIV.
Experience the work at “Zero is Greater” until 13 November 2026 at ConHill.

Meet the artists behind ZERO IS GREATER.
What can a simple plate of food tell us about solidarity?
Multidisciplinary artist and creative director @Serai Kevin Lobelo draws inspiration from the plastic food plates used during the height of South Africa’s HIV/AIDS pandemic.
At a time when stigma led some families to isolate relatives living with HIV/AIDS, activists and community members quietly stepped in, leaving plates of food outside their doors.
Serai’s work commemorates this often-unseen act of solidarity while confronting the history of nutritional denialism. Garlic off-white and beetroot crimson become symbols of resistance, bodily autonomy and viral suppression.
Book your ticket for the artist talk on 31 October at ConHill.

What if an exhibition could take you from the past, through progress, and into the future?
Explore the four-phased journey of Zero is Greater, a new exhibition on view 18 October through 13 November @ Constitution Hill
Visitors will encounter “80,000 Futures,” a participatory installation that asks us to look beyond statistics and remember the people, families, and futures behind the HIV and TB statistics.
From there, “Progress” explores decades of advances in science, treatment, and prevention and the activists, healthcare workers, researchers, communities and others who helped make that progress possible.
“Possibility” asks how much further we can go.
And “Imagination” leaves us with an open-ended question: What could become possible if HIV and TB no longer shaped so many lives?
