Independent Engineer Running for Louisiana Public Service Commission to Hold Utilities Accountable and Give Louisianans a Better Deal

New Orleans, LA
Joined February 2026
Our power grid is out 3x longer than Florida's. Why? Because the PSC dropped utility pole standards 7 years ago, and companies profit off building new stuff, not maintaining the old. As a former LPSC consultant, I built ServiceMyPole.org to fight back!

Cleco is guaranteed 9.7% on everything it builds. Now it's adding $5 billion in assets and wants 10.7%.

The private cost of capital is closer to 7.5%. Set returns closer to that and finance with more debt, and Louisianans could save $350 million a year. That vote comes in the spring. Vote for lower bills. Vote for the engineer. Vote Chris Justin for Public Service Commissioner!

Entergy tried to buy a 22-year-old power plant for six times what it cost in 2024. A plant that needs $300 million worth of work.

Under the current model, they make more money by overpaying. That price then sets the bar for every gas plant anyone else buys. So we all suffer, even if you're not an Entergy customer. From my conversation on The State of Freedom podcast.

For years we got by with a warm body in this seat. That was clear skies. Now we're in turbulence, and you're already feeling it on your bill. This is a technical job. It needs someone who knows how to fly the plane.

Our power goes out three times as long as Florida's. The PSC started work on maintenance standards in 2019. They're still sitting on the sidelines because the utilities called them onerous. Entergy can go 15 years between checking if a pole is rotting.

Day one, I want those standards in place. We're already paying for this grid. Vote for lower bills. Vote for the engineer. Vote Chris Justin for Public Service Commissioner!

Monopoly utilities get paid a guaranteed return on everything they build, typically 9.7%. So they want to build as much as possible, as expensively as possible.

They don't make money fixing our stuff, so they minimize it. I'd switch to performance-based rate-making, where they make money based on how good a job they do. From my conversation on The State of Freedom podcast.

The Lightning Amendment lets new data centers come here paying 50% of the costs for 15 years. That leaves us on the hook for the rest.

For the Meta expansion alone, $3.85 billion could land on us, by Entergy's own numbers. We welcome the jobs. They should not be on our backs. The Lightning Amendment needs to be rescinded. From the WDSU Hot Seat debate.

I take no utility money. I’m a licensed engineer, not a career politician. And I show up. I’m running No Party, for Republicans, Democrats, and independents who want lower bills and an honest Commission.

Stephanie Hilferty’s new ad says she stands for transparency and accountability. She’s so transparent you can’t even see her. She skipped the WDSU Hot Seat debate and seven candidate forums. She won’t face voters now. She won’t face Entergy later.

And her accountability is to Entergy and Cleco. Verite News reported she has taken more than $137,000 from energy and water utilities and their executives.
