🗳️ FINAL RESULTS: Seattle Mayoral Election 🗳️ Katie Wilson defeated incumbent Mayor Bruce Harrell to become the next Mayor of Seattle. A Seattle Mayor was last reelected in 2005 and 2025 continues this now decades long streak. #waelex #Seattle

Not in Washington lol
Is it a hot take to say statewide positions like Secretary of State, Attorney General, etc. should be elected?

Based on the State Senate seats up in 2026, Democratic targets to get to 33 (supermajority) would be 6, 31, and 35. Main problem right out of the gate is that no Democratic candidate filed to run in LD6 this year. But also, 31: Trump+7 35: Harris+0.6

For 2024 elections, all but the 4th district would’ve voted for Harris/Ferguson.
This last week, Governor Ferguson endorsed redistricting WA’s U.S. House districts should Democrats get supermajorities in the state legislature later this year. Any gerrymander would require putting rural eastern WA regions with a Democratic area west of the Cascades.

The only recent partisan election where the map “breaks” is 2024 Lands Commissioner where Herrera-Beutler actually wins 5/10 districts.

In the map above I left one GOP seat due to the extreme complexity and regional splitting required to draw out both GOP held districts. Spokane would be the logical target in a gerrymander due to it being the main pocket of Democratic votes east of the Cascades.

🗳️ FINAL RESULTS: State Senate LD-48 🗳️ State Senator Vandana Slatter🔵 defeated State Rep. Amy Walen🔵 to retain her seat. Walen improved a few points from the primary and won additional areas west of I-405, but it was not nearly enough to win the seat. #waelex

🗳️ FINAL RESULTS: State Senate LD-05 🗳️ State Senator Victoria Hunt🔵 defeated Fmr. State Rep. Chad Magendanz🔴 to retain her seat. After a close race in 2024, Chad was not able to maintain the support that was needed for a competitive race. #waelex
