Congratulations to Teruko Tissera on their idea that won over the audience at the Inverclyde Soup event last night. Teruko uses materials headed for landfill to create bespoke pieces that bring the material back to life again, amazing!

This has been an immeasurably satisfying & humbling time. The women at the forefront, failing, recovering, moving on. Each face more than an individual. It's one of a movement! @WEvolutionUK @PurpleShoots @Trust_Leeds @TannahillCentre @bethanychtrust
@churchpoverty & others.

10 years, 10 stories of women making things happen, together. If it's ok to have favourites, then mine is Jake's story, the first #SRG member I met in 2012, back when her community launderette was still a dream. 👏🏼srgmovement.com/tenfacesjake…

6 lessons here of fundamental importance:
- It's about community
- The women know
- The centrality of savings
- Look at the whole of life
- Build civic institutions
- It takes time
Delighted to be working with @WEvolutionUK to embody this in our own practice and advocacy.
Today, we’re launching a report calling for the scaling of a development model based on trust, savings and strengths.

This a timely report: the ordinary elevated to the necessary as we seek to rebuild better and differently for the post-pandemic era. @WEvolutionUK @davidhumeinst @MartinAtTheEdge

It's time to listen deeply and respectfully to people and their solutions, especially those coming from beyond our borders. Sometimes that can be profoundly uncomfortable but absolutely necessary for our times. @WEvolutionUK @davidhumeinst

In development ppl often quote the saying “give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime” but if he can’t get to the river
and if he manages it the best spots are already gone nothing will change.

Moving away from a needs based approach to local relationships of affinity, or mutual trust. This is the way forward for communities who are already resilient! There’s no need for dependence inducing development projects 👏👏👏 @WEvolutionUK @davidhumeinst #GlobalSpeakerSeries
