In the wake of the devastating earthquakes that struck north‑central Venezuela on June 24, 2026, the Trump Administration has mounted a swift, comprehensive, whole‑of‑government response to save lives and deliver urgently needed relief to the Venezuelan people. This State Department‑led effort includes the critical work of Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) special agents supporting operations on the ground. DSS has worked closely with the Department of War, U.S. search and rescue teams, and humanitarian partners to strengthen coordination. These combined efforts have been essential in helping ensure the safety of personnel, enhancing communication, and supporting logistics across multiple responding agencies as we get help to the Venezuelan people and save lives.

At more than 22,000 artifacts, a recent ICE HSI antiquities seizure in Florida is among the largest in the agency’s history as @HSITampa investigates its smugglers with @HSI_HQ's Cultural Property, Art and Antiquities Division.
More than a dozen experts and top archaeological specialists helped HSI Tampa identify and authenticate the objects. Preliminary indications show some artifacts may be between 1,000 to 5,000 years old from countries across Europe, Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean.
Cultural property, art and antiquities smuggling is a global crime that enables criminals to profit from stolen history, launder money and fund terrorism.
