Check in with your students throughout the class period using emoticons to check the vibe! A simple smiley face can let you know they're feeling confident, while a puzzled emoji 🤔 might indicate they need a little extra help. This not only makes communication fun but also encourages students to express themselves openly. Consider starting the class by asking them to share an emoji that represents how they're feeling about the topic, and revisit this at the end to see how their emotions have evolved. Emoticons can be a great icebreaker and a tool for maintaining a supportive and engaging classroom environment. #TeacherTipTuesday

Teaching for social justice moves beyond teaching languages for pragmatic and instrumental purposes, and is closely related to Global Competence and Intercultural Communication. The world language classroom has great potential to help all students learn through interpretation of authentic materials, discussion about real-world issues, and opportunities to take actions for social change.

✍️C02 Remember the last time you heard a great story? Our language-learners enjoy hearing stories in class. In fact, they enjoy it so much they will forget that they are listening in a different language; they will be so focused on the story, the characters, and the action. This is how Comprehensible Input works. Story- Listening was researched and developed by Dr. Stephen Krashen and Dr. Beniko Mason.
