The First Attempt: A small cup/container of soapy water was thrown onto the screen, which worked reasonably well.  On the next lap, a mechanic threw an entire bucket of water as the car sped past pit lane at around 150–200 km/h.  The high-speed impact of 10 kg of water hit the windscreen, immediately smashing and shattering the glass.
