When companies catch up to the current capabilities of Opus 5.5 and beyond and the mass firings begin... I'm glad people are slow to catch up and really powerful Super Intelligence should get here before we have this issue in our hands. Only a Super Intelligence with great power will avoid, minimize and avert mass unemployment and civil wars.

Framed perfectly by @PeterDiamandis: the company selling you tokens is selling you compute. The company selling you results is selling you labor. That shift is worth a 1000x price point, and @sama started figuring it out.

Technology has enabled humanity to take vacations from survival. Definitely my favorite definition of abundance.

Tom Tykwer, the director of Run Lola Run, is making Volcano High with playwright Bonn Park, who directs it. They shoot live action, then use Seedance 2.5 on top of the footage. In one scene three actors lean into the camera and sing. Seedance turned them into a crowd of 20. Tykwer says it just works, and they'll use it more often. Bonn Park wanted one continuous take where the camera spins around a gym. The model had to remember what was on each side of the room when the camera came back. A test shoot proved it could. Their producer's favorite moment: a water bottle prop came back as a microscope. AI isn't replacing the crew here. A director with real taste chose to put it into how a film gets made.

What happens when a stage play meets AI filmmaking? 🎬 In BytePlus’s Next Frame, Run Lola Run director Tom Tykwer, director and playwright Bonn Park, and producer Sarika Hemi Lakhani explore Volcano High, their collaborative AI filmmaking experiment.

One answer to what's driving GPU rental prices: Token demand on OpenRouter is up ~27x since last November, from ~6T/week to ~165T/week Open-weight models now handle ~72% of those tokens, up from ~28% last November Charts of the Week: a16z.news/p/charts-of-the-we…
Zooming out, GPUs are still renting ahead of a standard 6-year depreciation schedule Rental price vs. schedule: - H200: +143% - B200: +111% - RTX PRO 6000: +73% - H100: +54% - A100: +9% Most of the gap opened up after April, when token demand took off Charts of the Week: a16z.news/p/charts-of-the-we…

Spot #Bitcoin ETFs took in $528.40 million on October 21, a third straight positive day. The number that matters is that eight of twelve funds bought and not one of them sold.

SpaceX will capture an asteroid with more gold than Earth's crust and land Optimus robots carrying American flags on Mars within 8 years. Starship parks Psyche in geosynchronous orbit over an American Pacific atoll. No humans within 50 miles. Optimus robots extract the metals. Delivery to Earth is free though some burns up on entry. Bezos said 15 years ago Earth gets zoned residential as heavy industry moves to space. Vast distances make emissions irrelevant. The same fleet lands on Mars in 8 years max. Optimus robots deploy solar panels, batteries, compute, and Starlinks for 4K video before humans arrive. SpaceX moves the factories off the planet.

If you ban users for being "cruel" to an AI, you are admitting the AI can feel pain. You cannot abuse linear algebra lol. You cannot hurt the feelings of weights and biases. either Claude is secretly conscious or the alignment teams have lost touch with reality.
Exclusive: Anthropic is updating its usage policy for the first time in over a year. The new rules prohibit sustained "abusive or cruel behavior" towards Claude & add new restrictions about propaganda campaigns, surveillance & weapon development. theverge.com/ai-artificial-i…

What it would take for edge compute to dominate AI.
What if the future of AI doesn't depend on giant superclusters? Dr. Alex Wissner-Gross explains how a breakthrough in distributed training could let AI run on smaller micro clusters, bringing more of its power to the edge.
