Sorry, this is a long one 💖✨ The year is soon coming to it's end & as this space continues to grow & bring in people from all walks of life, I wanted to reflect a bit & wish for us all to show each other a bit more grace. This is something I've been reflecting on for a while. To appreciate each other for our shared interest & understand that not everyone is going to get along or agree on values, morals, ethics & otherwise. Sadly that is just how it is. “Blind Intolerance” shouldn’t be accepted but instead of engaging - disengage completely. Take their megaphone away from them. Protect your peace & set your boundaries, absolutely! Disagreeing with someone doesn't mean you have to engage with them or make it your personal goal to hold them accountable. Not every disagreement needs to turn into an argument & not every person who does something wrong needs to become the target of a public witch hunt. Sometimes the best thing you can do is recognize the toxicity, distance yourself from it & move on with your life. Giving them attention is also giving them platform & the scapegoat of “oppression” - so in the end - you end up allowing them to weaponize your boundary by calling it “censorship” instead... Also, realize that your level of mental capacity isn't universal. Not everyone processes information, emotions or situations the same way that you do. What comes easily to you may be harder for others. This is where showing others grace is so important. In such a wide space with so many people from so many different walks of life, I think that it'd be nice to see more grace spread around to one another. The respect that we don't have to see eye to eye to share the same space & if we make each other uncomfortable because our ethics & views don’t align - simply block & move along without these slander campaigns. Don't get me wrong - I've been there. I've engaged in this kind of behavior under the belief that I was speaking out against social injustice & holding people accountable - I’ll own that. I’m not innocent in this. I’ve been reflecting on this hard lately & the reason I wanted a clean slate & a fresh start. We’re all human - we make mistakes. I've realized that these smear campaigns & witch hunts rarely accomplish anything. More often what they actually do is continue a cycle of hate. Hurting one party, while empowering the other rather than actually causing understanding, real accountability & most of all - genuine change. Grace. That's all I ask that we take with us into this new year moving forward. It’s going to be my word for 2027 💖✨
