Congrats to all the departments who were honored!
When your school district has nearly $3B in tax 💵💰💲and wants to build an unnecessary $50m event center AND has schools in need of serious repairs.

Attended a school board candidates' forum last night—3 GOP candidates didn’t show. Transparency and engagement came up repeatedly. @cobbschools has denied both for years. That’s why we filed a complaint with the AG. It’s time to hold them accountable! #Transparency
Watchdog group "Watching the Funds" requested an investigation of the Cobb County School District's handling of open records requests #Cobbschools #CobbCounty #transparency

🚨@CobbSchools has a serious transparency problem. They’ve delayed responses to Open Records requests, slapped us with outrageous fees and violated Open Mtgs Act. @Georgia_AG @GAFirstAmend @AJC @EastCobbNews @WABE @CobbSchools @OpenGovHub @GeorgiaDemocrat @mdjonline #gapol
We're asking the GA Attorney General to:
INVESTIGATE these violations of Open Records & Open Meetings Acts IMPLEMENT corrective measures PROVIDE training & enforce ongoing oversight
CCSD needs to understand: Transparency isn’t optional—it’s the law! #Accountability #Transparency
So, @CobbSchools appeal was DISMISSED by the 11th Circuit Court The court's opinion was clear: the Cobb County School District had no business appealing the case because they had already asked to be dismissed and were granted that dismissal.
Despite this, they continued to make legal missteps by trying to participate as a nonparty. The court emphasized that their actions—participating only as an amicus and not as a party—failed to meet the legal requirements for standing, leading the court to dismiss their appeal.
In short, the school district’s own decisions left the court with no choice but to reject their appeal, highlighting the costly mistakes and miscalculations that have left taxpayers with a $1.8 million bill. #thisiscobb Meanwhile…
The Juxtaposition of these incidents is noteworthy. Last week, another was allowed to read the most graphic parts of a book that has been banned in support of the @CobbSchools actions. Her time was paused, she was reassured she could continue and the live feed was paused.

Last night, two speakers read passages from books that the district removed due to sexual content in support of the district’s decision. It was handled very differently and no one was removed from the meeting. 2/2
The Juxtaposition of these incidents is noteworthy. 1 public commenter was done reading a hateful, vulgar threatening message some Black students received when she was interrupted by board chair Randy Scamihorn, chastised, not allowed to continue and removed...

@CobbSchools aren’t allowed to ask our supt. questions re: info he shares during his board remarks
What cup of crazy is this? HE WORKS FOR THEM. THEY WORK FOR US, right? Or did they get @Ed_Setzler to draft legislation to change that, too? 😜 @AJCGetSchooled
Think about it this way. During Ragsdale’s board remarks he can say, “I’ve decided to spend millions on (insert new thing here)” and if it isn’t on the agenda needing a vote, OUR BOARD MEMBERS can’t ask questions. @AJC_Education
This isn't just unacceptable governance—it's a dereliction of duty. Our elected officials are reduced to silent spectators, unable to fulfill the roles we elected them to do and unwilling to change it .

At least we’re not stuck with that $50m event center… unlike these.

Back to School @CobbSchools and back to a lack of respect & transparency from those getting paid top dollar to do their jobs really badly. Want to know how much? Let us know. #thisiscobb #embarrassing #theyworkforus @PRSA
We will forever be grateful to the person who shared the plans with us and the community for speaking up with us. This project was never a good idea.
In a surprise move during Tuesday’s special called meeting, Superintendent Chris Ragsdale asked the Cobb County school board to kill the controversial $50 million event center, citing “extremely concerning levels of inflation.” #CobbCounty #Education

So wait…? @CobbSchools can talk about school safety & communication on its podcast but refuse to address at board meetings in public or WITH the public? Instead they say NOTHING (useful or not) and hide behind a potentially unlawful use of Executive Session.
