I just beat Casltevania Belmont's Curse and as a life long fan of the series...my thoughts...It’s a solid Metroidvania, but ultimately, it falls short of the Castlevania experience I was hoping for. I’d give it a 5/10.
where navigation is such a big part of the experience. On top of that, not having a quick weapon-swap option makes combat feel clunkier than it needs to be.
Ultimately, the writing is what destroyed it the most for me. Rose as the hero and "last" Belmont makes no sense either.
In the year of our Lord 1499....why is Rose calling her mother Sypha Belnades and not Sypha Belmont?
As a life long Castlevania fan I’m holding my full feelings for the Belmont’s Curse until I finish it….but who thought making HIM the fallen was a good idea? What a fucking horrible idea….

"The fact that there's still many fans sending their messages of support for a game I created over a quarter of a century ago is quite simply the greatest reward a game creator could ask for. It truly makes me happy.
I was given the opportunity to re-write the script (which due to the memory limitations of the SNES was mainly written in hiragana) in kanji for this release, and as a result, I reread every line of dialogue in both Lufia I and Lufia II.
Frankly, there's plenty of dialog that made me feel a little embarrassed for my younger self, but revisiting it also brought back so many memories from the game's development making it an incredibly enjoyable experience.
