🚨 Storm Safety Reminder 🚨
During severe storms — and even after the rain stops — please stay away from flood control channels, rivers, and streams.
Water from upstream communities can move quickly through channels with little warning. What may look shallow or calm can suddenly become fast-moving and dangerous.
For your safety and the safety of first responders:
🚫 Stay out of channels and waterways
🚸 Keep children and pets away
🌊 Never enter moving or ponded water
One decision can save a life. Please stay back and stay safe. 🌧️⚠️

Keeping our community safe means staying ahead of nature’s challenges.
LA County Public Works manages a flood control system of dams, debris basins, and other infrastructure. After storms, we clear debris basins of dirt, rocks, and branches to make room for future stormwater.
In the coming weeks, you may see our crews transporting this organic material to disposal sites. This routine flood control work helps protect communities from flooding, and we follow strict safety and environmental best practices every step of the way.
