Today we joined The Rekai Centres to celebrate a major milestone at Cherry Place in Toronto's West Don Lands.
The new 348-bed Campus of Care will bring long-term care, health care and education together in one place. Residents, students and the community will be close neighbours. It's a new model of care and learning, built for a growing community.
It is also the first project from the Building Ontario Fund, and a great example of what partners can build together.
Congratulations to The Rekai Centres and to everyone helping bring this campus to the waterfront, including @ONlongtermcare, @NatKusendova, @GBPolytech, @LifeLabs, the @cityoftoronto, and @WaterfrontTO.

Toronto’s waterfront is evolving — and you can be part of it. Public voting is now open to help name the City’s two new electric ferries. These vessels will serve residents and visitors for decades to come as part of Toronto’s modernized and electrified ferry fleet.
The City of Toronto formed a dedicated Ferry Naming Committee — made up of community members, waterfront and Island stakeholders, and City staff — who carefully reviewed submissions to create a thoughtful shortlist. Now it’s your turn to have a say.

With temperatures fluctuating above and below freezing, melting snow and rain can cause water levels to rise quickly. It’s important to stay mindful around rivers, lakes and ponds.
Remember to:
🌊 Keep a safe distance from rivers, lakes and ponds. Ice thickness is hard to judge, and conditions can change quickly.
🚫 Avoid walking, skating or driving on ice‑covered waterbodies unless they are officially designated as safe.

New Request for Proposal notice! Have you heard?
Our partner @c40cities is inviting proposals to help create a dynamic pop-up gathering space on Ookwemin Minising! Together, @c40cities, @cityoftoronto and @WaterfrontTO are looking for a supplier or group of suppliers to bring our vision for the pop-up space to life and animate an underutilized space on the island.
It’s a great chance to help shape an interim space on Toronto's new island! Link to the full RFP, including details on submission (deadline February 20) and how to ask questions: bit.ly/4ryYnK2

Toronto’s new island is taking shape. Our latest blog summarizes what we heard throughout our initial public engagement spanning July to October 2025 and how it’s informing early design, from the streets as green corridors, to better connections to water and nature, and a living legacy that honours Indigenous, natural and industrial histories.
