Brilliant, and timely; when will we ever have another goalie for PM? @MarkJCarney, it’s your chance to do something remarkable. Call it the Ken Dryden Program of Goaltending Excellence, headquartered in our former goalie factory, Quebec. Free equipment is just the beginning.
Replying to @chelsealeite
The government of Canada needs to subsidize goalie equipment, this is how we find the next phenom.

Last night. I was talking to a guy I’ve coached with for three years. We get along great. Huge mutual respect. Great results. Sitting there with the other coaches. he mentioned his first protest was in the early summer of 2020. I said, “Me too! Maybe it was the same one.”

Mine was George Floyd in Guelph. His was anti-maskers in Toronto. I said that if our protests had been side by side, we’d have tried to beat the shit out of each other. We laughed. Then we got on the ice.

Thank God for referees. They’re the only thing saving us from having to play like gentlemen.

On this, my last day on Twitter, I will reveal the real takeaway here: Deep down, we understand that we actually do need the cops.
This is actually a phenomenal social experiment on false authority over time leading to obedience

A guy is out there actually thinking in real time to answer questions as deeply and thoroughly as possible, and the mouth breathers think he’s doing a verbal storm surge for shits and giggles. Read a fucken book, “media” men.
"Why don't NHL players want to play in Canada???"

Anti-intellectualism is a cultural plague. “Snob” was a useful label for pointing out pretentious pedantry that created distinctions in order to separate the desirables from the commoners. Now, I’d take a roomful of insufferable prigs over a single self-righteous tldr populist.
the ever-eloquent 3liza (rip an excellent twitter account) posted this recently which is concise and correct

We were on the right track with the Millennial injunction not to yuck someone’s yum. The problem arose when we equated personal preference and aesthetic quality. I can love Dungeon Crawler Carl while recognizing it’s a shit-stain on the bowl of lit compared to Blood Meridian.

This has become the most consequential miss in modern hockey history. Without exaggeration, it’s set NHL hockey in Canada back at least a couple of years.
It’s honestly kind of hilarious that none of this would’ve happened if he just scored here

I was shocked to learn the true source of this cryptic wisdom. It has an almost Anglo-Saxon alliterative verse structure.
“Karma sharpens its blades on the bones of our sins.”

Find a goalie who plays well for your team. Hold him close to your heart and never let him go. Love him unconditionally, for all his is and what he means to you, because he won’t be worth a dime by the time you break up.
one takeaway you get from trying to improve any goalie statistic to be remotely predictive is that it is basically impossible. any signal you find vanishes when you look at goalies changing teams. hence, is a goalie

I’ve had this happen a few times. Biggest common risk is whacking your head on the way down. Once you know what to look for, you can often feel it coming and get low, either avoiding unconsciousness or at least getting prone for when it happens.
Kyle Dubas said Ben Kindel collapsed 10 minutes into the flight in what has been diagnosed as a vasovagal episode. The medical staff quickly attended to Ben. He was given oxygen, regained consciousness, and the plane made an emergency landing.

You gotta hand it to him: Brady standing there with a huge smile saluting the whole crowd as they savaged him during his tribute video was a WWE heel-worthy performance. Everybody in the building played their role perfectly tonight.

I have never said this before, but goddamn it I’m proud of the Sens fans tonight. What a performance.

A roast is a tribute of sorts, right? Roasting returning players who left on bad terms would be the height of entertainment. Their worst blunders, dumbest media moments, most embarrassing gaffes. A fizzle reel.
Replying to @MitchyGallo
Hopefully the video is of him getting body checked and run into the boards and falling on his ass nonstop. That would be so damn funny if they did that

You can stand at the top of the crease. Saros often posts up there facing the side boards when his D has the puck behind the net. The forechecker has to avoid you. But you can’t move there as a player is skating through. That’s interference every time.
Jakub Dobes gets called for interference in OT... the Sharks head to the power-play.

I just learned a great line for de-escalating verbal conflicts between parent groups in the stands. Addressing and facing your own group (but speaking loudly enough for both sides to hear): “Simmer down, everyone. I don’t want to end up on YouTube for this.”

4. If your side’s parents are being shitty, address them with a strategic motive for stopping - “Lay off the refs - the last thing we need is an enemy for the game/tournament/season.” 5. Cheer the other goalie’s big saves. It diffuses total tribalism without seeming disloyal.

I’ve learned all these in the trenches, and I try to live by them. If you have some hard-won wisdom that works, I’d love to hear it. PS: I know most of this shouldn’t have to be said, it’s just a game, etc. Unfortunately, the coliseum stokes bloodlust, not benevolence.
