Our own @WeHeartDirector just told @TCSWashington what he cannot unsee: A one-year-old carried out of an apartment in a body bag. Nearby, a man dead of an overdose at a bus stop on 3rd & Bell he and I witnessed. The man had a choice. That baby never did. Fentanyl was in the home. The building is known for drug activity. And Washington’s law still does not treat that as imminent harm. This is not complicated. We are asking state legislators to do the right thing: lower the imminent-harm threshold so a child can be protected when fentanyl is in the home, before another baby pays the price. @WaStateDems Thank you @TravisSCouture for leading on this. The rest of Olympia needs to follow. Read Tim’s interview with @CarleenJohn1970 thecentersquare.com/washingt… Write your legislator: app.leg.wa.gov/DistrictFinde…

Big news: Today, the City Council passed my Pathways to Recovery legislation with unanimous support. This marks a new day for Seattle. Now, people struggling with addiction have a real chance to recover and reclaim their lives. My initiative places addiction treatment at the center of our city’s agenda. It fills critical gaps in the existing services available and sets us on a course for true public safety progress. With this vote, Seattle has chosen action over inaction—and I’m proud to be leading the way. Read more here: council.seattle.gov/2025/07/…

I spy Mayoral Candidate @JoeMallahan who reached out for a ride-a-long. Still no word from @WilsonKatieB or @MayorofSeattle despite many offers to meet with @weheartfounder and @WeHeartDirector to learn about our impactful model.
HAPPENING NOW: Summer tourism season is underway in downtown Seattle(@downtownseattle) and visitors are being greeted by brand new tents and open-air drug use. What an absolute embarrassment and disgrace for the city right before July 4th festivities. Even the elderly with walkers are struggling to navigate through this urban decay. Seriously, how can Mayor Bruce Harrell(@MayorofSeattle) and D7 Councilmember Bob Kettle(@CMBobKettle) abdicate their responsibilities during one of the most important times of the year? Meanwhile, the drug den in front of controversial housing provider REACH is worse than ever. The only ones trying to save lives right now are outreach workers with We Heart Seattle(@weheartseattle.) And they don't even have a taxpayer funded city contract. Wild.

Sustainable outcomes for a once mountain man (and Veteran) living in a makeshift cabin in the cliffs of Magnolia here in Seattle. We are private funded because it works that way. 👇🏼 We pick up trash and save lives. 👇🏼 “Hello Friends I want to reintroduce you to James. Some of you may have met him when he lived near the Elliot Bay Marina in the Magnolia trail park. He helped us clean up a camp that had been there for ten years, he himself had a cabin he built and lived there for about 4 years. I have been working with him for about a year now. James is a Navy veteran and qualifies for Veteran housing programs. Unfortunately James had fallen afoul with the criminal justice system and spent the last six months as a ward of the state and to be honest this may have been the turning point James needed. During his stay he able to receive the mental health treatment and help that he needed. We cleaned up his camp with the help of the men and women from @BattleEndsHere and paid for his storage and kept in contact with him. We worked with his attorney on a release plan and found transitional housing for him when he got out. He is now really focused on getting into long term housing through his veteran benefits and eventually employment. I am proud of the steps he is taking and we will continue to be there when he needs us. 3 cheers for this proud veteran!” @WeHeartDirector @SeattleCouncil @MayorofSeattle @GovBobFerguson @KingCoRHA @KCPubHealth @komonews @KING5Seattle @KIRO7Seattle @FoxNews @BrandiKruse @choeshow @KUOW @seattletimes @jasonrantz @choeshow @thehoffather @CityofSeattle

Boots on the Ground building trust through trash picks and outreach is our model. Timothy Emerson has been hyper focused on a camp with an impending sweep on the mountain to view bike trail off Rainier Ave. Yesterday at 10:00am Nate joined us for the pick and by 10:00am today he’s at Skagit going into medical detox for Fentanyl use. Nate’s journey is only just beginning but we will be there for him every step of the way offering aftercare, recovery housing and resources to reach self-sufficiency. I support camp resolutions aka sweeps because it gives people like Nate a chance to move past a stage of ambivalence to asking for the support he needs. @MayorofSeattle @KingCoRHA @KCPubHealth @GovBobFerguson Outreach with a focus on drug user intervention is our specialty. Save lives, Save Washington.

It's been a super great Easter, I got to help 1 young lady Into treatment and another calling grateful for the opportunity to get clean. At times it's a challenge to work with folks that have substance abuse issues but it's extremely rewarding for the ones that do well. Getting clean is a solid pathway to a stable life. @weheartseattle @weheartfounder

***💚Grandma Magic💚*** Many of you know that feeling of going to your grandmother’s house to that room she always had ready for you. That reality came true for young Jazmine yesterday after battling years on the streets of Seattle. In November of 2022, Tim and I met Jazmine in the NW Queen Anne Greenbelt where she was battered from head to toe living in this tent. She’s been on the run for years, addicted to drugs, and trying to escape codependent relationships. Over the years she’s moved around various camps, low barrier hotels and shelters, and hospitalized multiples times from broken bones and even the ICU. Jazmine finally had the strength to remain clean and sober for a few months and who did she call? She called Tim, as she always had when things got better or worse in her life. Turns out Grandma Georgia needs a care taker, and so does Jazmine. What a match. WHS has been providing services to Jazmine over the years adopting her like a little sister. She’s interviewed with KUOW about the criticisms of housing first but shocking, they didn’t use Jazmine’s compelling testimony. Jazmine is a truth teller and bonded with us early on. She’s never lost her life line to reach us and that’s the phone Tim bought her. As Tim and her walked away once and for all from her drug den housing they said “we will save a bed for you just in case you change your mind “…. cringe. Family Unification is the best outcome for people exiting the streets. Our loved ones need each other and this is a beautiful example of when you are clean and sober and ready, often there are open arms waiting. Bear Bear the traveling dog also had a nice bed waiting at Grandma's too. We 💚 you Jazmine! Thank you @WeHeartDirector for literally going the extra mile and driving her home to Idaho Falls. The clean ups save lives and build trust. It’s a working model of gaining respectful access to those suffering. Many of the volunteers probably remember cleaning her camp up in Feb. 2023 seen in the time warp vid.

What does @WeHeartDirector do on his day off? Tim walks around and saves lives. Today near @UW on the steps of a church where @PhraMedia operates to hand out crack pipes and fentanyl foil (funded by your tax dollars) laid a man under a tarp. His pants soiled, gurgling vomit, and bleeding limbs. Thankfully Tim was there to call 9-1-1 and @SeattleFire responded immediately. The man didn’t want Tim to call but he did anyway. Other homeless were thankful and said “Kevin” has housing. Treatment first, then housing is a more humane order. @Wake_upWA

This morning, while in church, I received a message from Tim at We Heart Seattle. He found a young girl under a tarp, sleeping on a pallet in the woods off Rainier Ave. He asked if we could respond and help get her somewhere safe. We were there shortly after. I promise, God just places you where you're supposed to be. This young girl was scared and clearly vulnerable all alone. Good News, She accepted our help. We packed up her things, which wasn’t much, got her into the car, and drove her to a safe place for the evening. Tomorrow, we will dive deeper into her story and learn how to better help her through to the other side of what brought her to homelessness. First, we need to get her warm and fed. This baby girl is only 23. Be Someone’s Constant. themorewelove.org @weheartseattle @WeHeartDirector

"What is happening today is probably the most compassionate thing that could happen for him," Emerson said. "This is the only way he's going to connect to services. He's not willing to work with anybody or do it on his own." @WeHeartDirector thank you for helping this man connect to services, restore the park and public safety. @CityofSeattle @MayorofSeattle @SeattleCouncil @JoelMorenoKOMO Man who damaged Seattle park with stolen excavator arrested again for violating ban komonews.com/news/local/man-…

From @WeHeartDirector “Today Joshua Emerson (My 15 year old son) and myself did a little exploring today and we had an absolute great time exploring the city and we traveled through Queen Anne and passing Dicks Drive in we noticed a female laying in the streets not moving and everyone was just driving around her and I looked at my son and told I can’t drive by when I know I can help so we stopped then and there. Joshua jumped into immediate action putting on his bright vest and letting everyone know we were there so we did not get hit by cars and I checked on female who at this point it was obvious she has overdosed and was on her final breath. There was a moment in time she wasn’t breathing and I could not find a pulse. I started chest compressions right away yelling for female to respond while waiting for medics and with recent incline of overdose there has been a shortage of Narcan supply. She was very lucky a local user had some Narcan he was able bring me. Fist hit up the nose nothing 😞 Second hit still nothing and now I decided more chest compassions and she finally came back 25 minutes in and still no medic In site. She immediately recognized me and and recognized the situation that she was in. Her and I have been to detox before and she definitely walked out and now we found her almost dead on the side of the street and had to Narcan her and bring her back and there was absolutely no policy in place stop or prevent any of this. In in situations like this, where a person has to be revived in the streets, they should absolutely have to go through detox and treatment.. It becomes a danger not only to themselves, but people around them. This could have easily caused traffic accidents, trauma in neighbors and children and absolutely affects the way businesses operate. I pray in the coming days Female accepts treatment and comes with me to one of our detox programs 🫶” @SeattleCouncil @MayorofSeattle

Volunteers cleared 9000 lbs of trashed today and @WeHeartDirector provided outreach so elders would not get arrested for trespassing on private land. We fill the gaps. City outreach can’t do anything and cops don’t want to arrest so we provide a solution.
