Here was the view of some coastal flooding in Morehead City along Shepard Street earlier today around high tide - that's roughly a foot of water along portions of the road. King tides hit their peak tomorrow and Wednesday morning, so expect a similar level of inundation.

King Tides will impact the coast through Thursday with the peak being on Tuesday and Wednesday during the high tides.
1-2 feet of inundation above ground level is possible in these areas.

Another afternoon of ocean overwash along NC-12. A 16-mile stretch along the Outer Banks remains closed from the Marc Basnight Bridge to Rodanthe.

N.C. 12 is still closed from Basnight Bridge to Rodanthe after overwash has caused more damage and dune loss. NCDOT does not know when the road will reopen. Emergency ferries between Rodanthe-Stumpy Point and Hatteras-Ocracoke are running. Crews will rebuild dunes as tides allow.
