Iranian authorities executed at least 85 prisoners, including six political prisoners, in October 2026, a 25% increase from the 68 executions recorded in September, according to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.

Shahab Zohdi, arrested during the anti-regime January 2026 protests, has been sentenced to death for a second time after the Supreme Court overturned his initial sentence.
Charges: moharebeh, corruption on earth and collusion against security.

Shahab Zohdi was reportedly riding his motorcycle past the scene when he noticed a crowd and stopped. According to a source close to his family, he had no involvement in the fire.
Yet the Islamic Republic has sentenced him to death for the SECOND time.
Four other defendants in the same case have already been executed:

Shahab’s first death sentence was overturned by Iran’s Supreme Court. Nevertheless, Judge Abolghasem Salavati issued another death sentence.
He is a widowed father raising his 16-year-old daughter alone.
FOUR LIVES HAVE ALREADY BEEN TAKEN. DO NOT LET SHAHAB BECOME THE FIFTH.
The international community, foreign ministries, human rights organizations and global media must act immediately. Demand transparency, independent investigation, due process and an immediate halt to his execution.

Omran Amani, un jeune manifestant de 21 ans, vient d’être condamné à mort par la république islamique en Iran pour « guerre contre Allah » en raison de sa participation au soulèvement du lion et soleil de Janvier dernier.
Il a été arrêté en février dernier , à la suite d’une perquisition menée par les forces criminelles Bassidj et des agents des services de renseignement du régime dans un logement à Téhéran. Il a été arrêté en même temps que deux de ses amis, Alireza Dolatpanah et Mohammad Khaleghi-Zadeh.
Ces trois jeunes hommes travaillaient comme livreurs à moto et partageaient le même logement.
Les agents les ont violemment battus au moment de leur arrestation. Après son arrestation, Omran Amani a été maintenu pendant deux mois en cellule d’isolement où il a été sévèrement torturé.
l’épaule droite d’Omran Amani a été brisée dans la prison d’Evin, à la suite de tortures destinées à lui arracher des aveux forcés. Malgré plusieurs mois écoulés depuis ces faits, il n’aurait toujours pas bénéficié de soins médicaux appropriés.

Female political prisoners remain at the forefront of this struggle, consistently joining the weekly “No to Executions Tuesdays” hunger strikes for nearly three years. These prisoners are currently serving their sentences in women’s wards across the country, including Evin Prison, Qarchak Prison in Varamin, Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz, Adelabad Prison in Shiraz, and facilities in Zahedan, Yazd, Lakan Prison in Rasht, and Bandar Abbas.

The Fall 2026 edition of @NAACP_LDF's Death Row USA is now out.
The U.S. death row population has decreased for the 63rd consecutive quarter, as total removals from death row and removals by means other than execution both outpaced new death sentences.
As of October 1, there were 1,957 people on death row or facing jeopardy of being resentenced to death in the United States. However 755 of those people — 38.6% of the entire death row total — have convictions or death sentences that have been overturned in the courts or are on death row in states with moratoria on executions. That leaves 1,202 people with active and enforceable death sentences.
The U.S. death row population has declined by 1,769 (47.5%) since peaking at 3,726 in 2001.
