Sub-Saharan Africa has spent decades discussing economic transformation while millions of its citizens are still struggling with problems that industrialised countries solved generations ago.

You can switch out Lagos for a multitude of African cities and countries and this tweet will still hold true. A sad sad state of affairs. Our parents and grandparents generations have failed this continent
And sadly, for many of us in Lagos, life has become an exercise in endurance.

Rt Hon Enock Chihana once boasted in an interview that he had solutions for forex and fuel. Those close to him, please tell him the country needs him now. Lies have short legs!

The recent events in Paraguay really put into perspective how mild us Malawians are. People lost their pensions and the president was kicked out. Meanwhile we’re chilling and there’s a literal video of a govt official stealing our pensions.

A common theme around Malawi is being heavy handed to the weak but meek when it counts. DRTSS had an opportunity to set a standard for our roads but withered. Same way our justice system will beat and punish the common man mercilessly but when it matters, zero.
Koma a Ephraim Mbewe kumunyoza wa traffic chonchija. Hhhmm

It seems the new meta for corrupt Malawian officials is gaslighting all of us that the systems in this country work and all we have to do is report them to the “relevant” authorities.

The 'African' traditional norm that children must never question elders has over time resulted in the lack of accountability we see in our offices/politics today. When obedience is mislabeled as respect in the home, it breeds adult citizens who tolerate authoritarian leaders.

A report on the carbon levy management assessment in Malawi has shown that between 2020 and 2025, Malawi collected about K15.6 billion in carbon levy, but only K500 million was traceable to the Environmental Fund. By Beatrice Mwape #MBCDigital #Manthu mbc.mw/report-calls-for-tran…

How come this only applies to beating people that are already down. The useless mayor’s office and criminally incompetent govt officials shouldnt be beaten but poor Malawians looking for fuel and food should be beaten? Ridiculous

Malawi is being ruined by a government that has a president that’s a professor, Supreme Court judge vice, chief secretary with a PhD and instead of holding them accountable, their response is to discriminate against each other. Pathetic
Uneducated people should never vote.

As much as hes just trying to position himself for the next elections, the deafening silence and unified backlash from all political stakeholders towards Suleimans corruption fight should tell you everything. In addition, the silence from the everyday Malawian speaks volumes.

Children born in a time of peace find it hard to understand the cost of the peace they are enjoying. They believe the achieved peace was through votes & conferences. They truly believe peace is their right & no one can take it. Tell them the truth before they are destroyed

When i said that the Malawian trait of generational ass licking and gullibility is a direct result of our upbringing Amati ndikupenga
The effects of raising sheltered children who cannot question their parents or authority is a society of adults who believe everything they are told. They are easy to manipulate with slogans & will let politicians, religion & other people lead them into chaos, war & they perish.

We have members of parliament and cabinet ministers who have never read Montesquieu’s The Spirit of Laws, which talks about separation of powers. No good can come from leaders who are ignorant of their work. Lawlessness prevails when leaders don’t know the limits of their power.

Malawians will say “dont use charcoal” then make every alternative economically, logistically and practically impossible to use.
