Just watched @rosalindcrone's fine film about the treadmill.
Carmarthen's wheel drove a life-size pewter effigy of a convict turning above the walls: deterrence visible!
Use of the device, particularly for women, drew early criticism. Here's a suggested alternative.
A former, now deceased, Speaker of the Commons once told me that I'd never get anywhere if I didn't smarten up. He may have been right about the conclusion, but I'm still not sure about the causation.

Update on the #DISstudentproject: With one week to go, packaging and cataloguing are well underway on the @AberLawCrim Dept. records. @infostudiesaber students are very excited to see the collection coming together nicely!

ALT Photograph of two stacks of light brown archival boxes next to a table. One stack of three boxes sits under the table, and the other, which has four boxes, sits to the right of the table. The boxes contain records of the Law Department Collection. On the table there are two open folders containing archival records and a laptop open to a spreadsheet of cataloguing information. Behind the stacks of boxes and the table are archival storage shelves containing boxes of other collections from the archive.
