Two ER visits in two days. Some of the worst pain I’ve ever experienced. And still no answers. The past 48 hours have been ROUGH. I landed in the ER yesterday afternoon and ended up right back there this morning, where I spent pretty much the entire day. Apparently, my big-brained, Chiari-Malformation-having self is having some BIG brain issues. 🧠 And let me tell you, I’ve experienced a lot of pain in my lifetime, but I can honestly say I’ve NEVER experienced a “headache” quite like this. Yesterday was especially terrifying. By the time we got to the hospital, I could barely function. And in all my years of medical mishaps, I don’t think I’ve EVER been rushed back so quickly. After another full day at the hospital today, I was sent home yet again. No MRI scheduled. No neurology appointment. No neurosurgery appointment. Just more waiting, more pain, and a whole lot of frustration. BUT…there was one bright spot in all of this. As I was walking (okay, rolling 😂) out the door today, I happened to lock eyes with the sweetest doctor who took care of me two summers ago when my gallbladder decided it was DONE. She recognized me, asked what was going on, and immediately jumped into action when I explained everything. She’s now actively working to help get me appointments with both neurology and neurosurgery. Sometimes, in the middle of all the chaos and frustration, God puts exactly the right person in your path. Thank God above for good people like her. ❤️ Now, we wait. Wait for appointments. Wait for answers. And pray these headaches don’t continue. I don’t scare easily when it comes to medical stuff anymore. I’ve been through enough of it to last several lifetimes. But yesterday? Yesterday scared me. If you need me, I’ll be resting, taking it easy, and hoping my big brain decides to behave itself for a while. 💜

Welp, you can officially add Mass Casualty Role Player to my résumé after today. (AND NO, IT’S NOT A HALLOWEEN COSTUME!) I got to spend the day with some pretty incredible people, doing something I never imagined I’d have the opportunity to do. Imagine preparing for a worst-case scenario, and then suddenly coming face-to-face with a woman screaming for help, with both of her legs gone. There’s a big difference between learning how to respond to something and actually having to respond when it’s right in front of you. The urgency, the pressure, the decisions, the human element. That’s why realistic training like this is so incredibly important. I sincerely hope none of the people I worked with today ever encounter a situation like that in real life. But if they do, I hope today’s experience leaves them a little more prepared to handle it when someone’s life depends on them. I’ve always believed that what I’ve been through can serve a greater purpose. I just never imagined losing my legs might one day help someone else learn how to save a life. Pretty incredible when you think about it. Thanks @jamie2gs for always taking me along on your adventures. Today was something truly special, and I’m grateful I got to play a small part in something so important.

What an awesome morning! 💜 Today I had the privilege of virtually sharing my story and leading meaningful discussions about disability with four high school classes at San Jacinto Christian Academy in Amarillo, TX. We talked about respect, dignity, inclusion, acceptance, and looking beyond appearances to get to know the person. I shared encouragement, challenged assumptions, and offered some practical dos and don’ts for treating people with disabilities with kindness and consideration. At the heart of it all: we are each created in God’s image, with value and purpose. A disability doesn’t change that. And, of course, I loved wrapping up with Q&A…because let’s be honest—everyone has a question for the lady with no legs. 😉 Making room for thoughtful questions is one way we grow in understanding! A huge thank-you to their teacher and my friend, Sandi, for reaching out and inviting me into these conversations, and to the students for spending part of their morning with me. There was a time when I couldn’t make sense of any of it. The pain. The loss. The heartbreak. Having to pick myself up and start over again and again. I couldn’t understand WHY I had to go through so much. But looking at moments like this, surrounded by incredible women, using my voice, sharing my story, and doing work that truly matters to me… 𝗜 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗜’𝗺 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗜’𝗺 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲. ❤️ I wouldn’t have chosen the road that brought me here. Not in a million years. But I also wouldn’t trade the purpose I’ve found, the people I’ve met, or the woman I’ve become along the way. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗖𝗔𝗡’𝗧 𝗯𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗧𝗛𝗥𝗢𝗪𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞: This was the very FIRST time I stood on my prosthetic leg. 🥹❤️ Watching this now hits me in a way I can’t quite explain. I’d already lost so much. My right leg was gone, and I was trying to figure out how to put the pieces of my life back together. What I didn’t know was that I’d eventually lose my LEFT leg, too. But you know what else I didn’t know? 𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗚𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗠𝗬 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗚𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗢 𝗚𝗘𝗧. ❤️ The woman in this video had no idea about the adventures she’d have, the incredible people she’d meet, the doors that would open, or the purpose she’d find in everything she’d been through. I’m not going to pretend those losses weren’t devastating. They were. And I’m certainly not going to pretend the road was easy. But what I once thought was the end of so many things turned out to be the beginning of a life I never could have imagined. If I could go back and tell that woman just ONE thing, it would be… 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹, 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗪𝗔𝗜𝗧 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁! 🥹💪 Today, I have no legs. But my life? It’s bigger, fuller, and more beautiful than I ever dared to dream. So if you’re in a season of loss, uncertainty, or starting over, please don’t assume this is where your story ends.
