🧵Presumably, you follow me here because you like to read my thoughts. If that is the case, I hope you will indulge me & take a few minutes to read the first (& last) “Notes app” thread I will ever tweet. I put a lot of thought into it & it wasn’t easy to write. It’s that time…

So, the block feature is gone on the desktop version of this place. I think the time has come. At least one last tweet will be coming later.

Being suicidal is a lot like being a sober alcoholic. I never stop becoming suicidal, I just dry out and fight to maintain my sobriety. Right now feels like the equivalent of being gifted a bottle of wine and staring it down in a half-lit kitchen, but with taking my life.

Locking my account down. I dont have the words for the one-two punch of utter bleakness this week has presented me with. Maybe this will finally be what gets me off this terrible app but i honestly dont know if that matters at this point to me.

“I’ve been accused of being sexist and I think it’s pretty damn silly. Ridiculous. I paint beautiful women: sometimes they look vulnerable and sometimes they look like the deadliest things on two legs. I love women. I don’t think that I suggest that they’re weak or wimpy or that they’re being taken advantage of. And when did painting the body become sexist? I could sit around painting bowls of fruit or people mowing the yard, you know, the most boring crap that would challenge no one— and who would want to see it? Nobody.” - Frank Frazetta #FrazettaGirls

Dumbstuck by Marko Zaror’s look for his new movie with long time collaborator Ernesto Díaz Espinoza, “Diablo.” I love that this guy who is built like the real life Sagat from “Street Fighter 2” is such a little weirdo when making movies with his longtime pal.

I interviewed Zaror for his last movie by Espinoza, “Fist of the Condor.” Any time those two get together, it’s off-kilter, yet ass-kicking, magic in my opinion. cinapse.co/2023/04/words-of-…

Hug the people you care about. Call them if they are far way. Tell them you love them. Life is so, so fragile.

For those wondering, my 17 year old niece passed away today. She was the apple of my immediate family’s eye. Smart, kind, a legitimate star HS athlete who was without a doubt going on to do big things at my Alma Mater next year. Most importantly she was a good kid with a huge ❤️

I don’t want a bunch of condolences, or “sorry for loss” platitudes. Just please, remind those you care about that you love them daily. Be annoying about it. Because someday you won’t have the chance again.

Please give this a watch. It’s a nuanced and thoughtful breakdown of the realities of elections as agents of major change. It’s also hopeful.
John Oliver's brilliant take on why he's voting for Kamala Harris. And he featured Georgia State Rep. Ruwa Romman.

Watching THE HUDSUCKER PROXY for the first time and absolutely howling at this part. Only the Coen Brothers (plus Sam Raimi) would do this.

From the Feb '88 issue of Comic Scene- an article announcing that Burton's "Batman" will begin filming in summer. No casting was done yet, & there are quotes from Tim himself, reassuring fans that he's a big Batman '66 fan, Robin will be in the film, & it won't be "psychological"

Anyone interested in seeing the letter columns with all the fan outrage when Keaton was announced? I’m sure this stuff isn’t interesting to everyone but it fascinates me how the reporting and culture of this stuff is still so similar to now decades later.
