I am really happy in this department and at VT in general. So many great colleagues and resources to help us succeed. Plus, look at these mountains! It's a beautiful place to live. Happy to chat if you want to know more.
Huge congrats to the amazing @Laurenaceae for successfully defending her PhD on Friday!! Such a huge accomplishment and she did it with a whole lot of style

The forest is obviously closed today so I guess it's time to check out all the talks I missed at #ATBC2021
The flooding happened SO fast. Yesterday afternoon at 4pm I went for a walk during a break in the rain. An hour later on my way home I had to wade through chest deep water to get back (not a good idea, I know, but I was not keen on spending the night in the forest)
What we refer to as the "oh shit" stick that measures the water level of the river has moved past red alert to the level of "oh f*ck"
So I'm back at my happy place at La Selva Biological Station in Costa Rica and it has been raining some. This morning I took a boat to breakfast @tropicalstudies
