setting aside tech’s adversarial + aggressive tendencies towards the press, i do think the main weakness of some journalists is the gap in technical understanding. though there exists a pool of science journalists with advanced degrees who could be useful. two cents!

What irritates me about San Francisco is that it’s a city with boatloads of money floating around (like Titanic-levels of cash), yet institutions like @SFOpera run deficits that are entirely fixable by a sliver of a random company’s Series D raise.

Management initially asked musicians to take pay cuts (and then amended this to a pay freeze) at a time where rent and the general cost of living in this city have shot up insanely. Would you take a pay cut or freeze in this economy?

Amazing productions have been put on in the past year: The Barber of Seville, Idomeneo, Dead Man Walking and the world premiere of Monkey King, to name a few. Next year, the opera plans on producing Wagner's Ring Cycle. None of these would be possible without the orchestra!

Proud of @theinformation team for winning the finance, investing, tech and auto categories in this year's Best in Business SABEW awards. And our Asia bureau was also widely recognized. Congrats to all the winners. We need this work now more than ever. sabew.org/2025/03/2024-best-…

an understated part of the awful @wsj tech layoffs is the amount of mentorship the paper just lost. interning in the sf bureau solidified my want to pursue tech journalism, but it more importantly taught me about the type of people and editors I want to work with.

jason was one of my biggest advocates, even going so far as to request a metal printing plate be shipped to SF after I wrote my a-hed!! my non-media friends know my former colleagues' names because I wouldn't stop raving in group chats about how great and supportive they were.

every career decision i've made since my time there has been hugely informed by how thoughtful and inclusive the sf bureau was last summer. it was a really good crew, and I wish that future interns had the chance to learn from these really talented and generous journalists.

After finishing post-grad internships @wsj and @business, I’m happy to be returning to @theinformation to report on the future on transportation & mobility! (aka Waymo, AVs, ridehailing) If you’re in the Bay and work in the space, let’s chat over boba: [email protected]

Ever since I wrote about solar car racing last summer, I’ve been wanting to return to the innovation / engineering space since so much is happening there :) Feeling incredibly lucky to start working on a dream beat at a dream pub in my favorite city 🙆🏽‍♀️
