The Home Office has just given money to 15 organisations to help find out why Windrush people are not applying for the schemes.
Seriously?
After everything that happened you still need research to understand why some victims don't trust a scheme being run by the Home Office?
Maybe stop studying why the trust has gone and start looking at what destroyed it in the first place.

Organisations such as Citizens Advice have long provided practical support and advocacy — helping people understand processes, gather evidence, complete forms and advocate for themselves.
But advocacy is not the same as legal representation.
And advocacy should not be dismissed when it helps people navigate a system they may otherwise struggle to access.

Windrush claimants deserve both accessible advocacy and appropriate legal support — not an either/or.
Independent claimant assistance should never be presented as a substitute for legal advice where legal expertise is genuinely required.
Where a case involves historic nationality, Right of Abode, status, complex legal questions, causation, employment losses, pensions or disputed evidence, claimants may need appropriately qualified legal advice.
The level of support should reflect the complexity of the case.

Windrush victims were wrongly stripped of their rights, jobs, homes and dignity.
Post Office victims were falsely accused, prosecuted, bankrupted and publicly branded as criminals.
Different scandals. Different harm. The same British state forcing innocent people to prove what the state already knows it did to them.
Then comes the paperwork, insulting offers, delays, reviews and carefully worded apologies while victims continue suffering.
That is not justice. It is the Government managing victims until the public stops paying attention.

Victims should not need television dramas, viral campaigns or years of public humiliation before the Government decides their suffering matters.
Windrush victims should not have to fight the Home Office responsible for harming them.
Post Office victims should not have to battle compensation systems created after the state already accepted that a terrible injustice occurred.
Both groups need funded independent lawyers, firm payment deadlines and decision-makers who are completely separate from the organisations responsible.
No more forcing victims to relive their trauma for officials.
No more low offers designed to make desperate people surrender.
No more victims dying while politicians announce another review.
Pay what is owed. Reveal the truth. Prosecute wrongdoing. Deliver justice.
