If you cannot afford to replace it, and your principal cannot provide a new one for you, it raises serious questions about how much you are valued and appreciated. Esther, take my advice before it is too late. Don’t allow yourself to be used and eventually dumped. Have you ever seen someone who has worked closely with Peter Obi come out publicly to commend his leadership and speak about how much they have progressed under him? If you were truly valued, you wouldn’t have to resort to crowdfunding for a work gadget. Your principal should have taken responsibility and provided a replacement instead of allowing you to solicit funds publicly. Sometimes, how a leader treats the people working for him tells you everything you need to know about his leadership.

A man says he instructed his wife to leave social media because he doesn’t want the toxicity on the app affecting her mental health. He describes her as a soft spoken, feminine woman and says he wants to protect her. I understand wanting to protect your spouse from a toxic online environment. There is plenty of unnecessary hostility on these platforms. But I have a question. Why does protecting your wife have to mean instructing her to leave? A woman can be feminine and still have her own opinions. She can be gentle and still be exposed to difficult conversations. She can encounter information about marriage, manipulation, financial independence and personal boundaries without automatically becoming a difficult wife. And perhaps that is where this conversation becomes uncomfortable. Does a husband want his wife away from social media because it is genuinely harming her, or because he is uncomfortable with the possibility that she might encounter ideas that challenge what she has always believed? We cannot know his motive from one post, but I think the question deserves an honest discussion. Married women, if your husband instructed you to leave social media for your own good, would you consider that protection or control?
