Labour’s justice system is about to reduce the sentence of a man involved in the killing of a Good Samaritan. In 2022, Reece Radford, 26, saw Dereck Owusu punch a 17-year-old girl at a Sheffield bus stop. He stepped in. Owusu and Louis James turned on him. Owusu kicked him in the head. James stabbed him in the chest. Reece died of his wounds. He left behind a 7 month old daughter. Both men were convicted of murder. The convictions were overturned on appeal, forcing Reece's family to endure a second trial. This time, Owusu was found guilty only of manslaughter. He will now be resentenced, no doubt with a more lenient punishment. This is a moral outrage. Reece was murdered for protecting a teenage girl from harm. He was brave, where others may not have been. Reform will restore justice. British prisons are overflowing because the Tories imported 5 million net new people through immigration and built just 455 prison places. Reform will immediately deport the 10,000 foreign nationals in our jails to make space. We will increase minimum sentences. We will keep violent criminals where they belong: in jail.

The Tories and Labour have turned the streets of Birmingham into a battleground for gang warfare. Last November, at 5pm on a Sunday in a residential area, a knife fight broke out which ended in Oumar Traore stabbing Yassin Alama to death. Within minutes, Traore posted a video online showing off the blue-bladed zombie knife used to inflict the fatal wound, jeering: “look at the meat on that. It’s warm, it's warm”. When police caught him they found a stash of knives. He ran a ‘business’ selling murder weapons. He spoke of his attachment to the blue zombie knife praising how easily it “slides in”. Traore and his victim were also members of rival ‘postcode gangs’ which have been at war for years. When did this become the new normal on Britain’s streets? The Tories and Labour built a ‘justice’ system that consistently lets Britain’s most dangerous offenders off the hook. SEVEN in TEN convicted knife offenders are spared jail at sentencing. British prisons are overflowing because the Tories imported 5 million net new people through immigration and built just 455 prison places. Reform will deport all 10,000 foreign nationals in our jails. We will put 30,000 new police officers on our streets to restore order. We will keep violent criminals where they belong: in jail.
