As JJ McCarthy prepares for his first start as a Giant, it’s important to remember the context. He’s only been in this team for a few weeks and he jumping into a game on the road against a defense that finished #1 in team defense last year. The Texans are favored by 10.5, making it the only double-digit spread of the weekend.
I’m not trying to proactively make excuses or anything like that. In fact, I think he will play well. However, if he’s not perfect today, it’s not time to throw in towel and make all sorts of rash judgements. In a lot of ways it’s similar to the Tommy Carr start yesterday, but hopefully he has a better result.

We just saw the dumbest play call in Michigan football history. Trailing Indiana 6-0, UM has third and goal from the 1. OC Jason Beck calls for freshman Tommy Carr to roll out and try to hit the Rhino guy, Beigel. Sacked. Missed FG. That's arrogance and stubborness from Beck.

Unfortunately, the Warriors fall to 0-3. The only thing that may stand in the way of Yax winning Rookie of the Year is the Warriors record.
That game was never in doubt. Cignetti was just playing with his food. He recognized early that Michigan’s offense was inept and so he shut down his passing game and planned to win 6-3. When Michigan strung a few plays together and tied it up, Cig turned it on immediately and scored in 2 plays.
The only real chance we had of winning that game was going for the TD in regulation, which we absolutely should’ve done.
Michigan’s offense is ranked 125th in the country. If they don’t pick things up in the second half, they will actually fall.
I pretty much never complain about the refs but that roughing the passer followed by the no call on the pass interference may be 2 of the worst calls I’ve ever seen. Unbelievable.
