Your dad is going to ask you the same question about a thousand times. "Wanna throw the ball around?" At 6, you'll grab your glove before he finishes the sentence. At 9, you'll keep him out there until the streetlights come on. At 13, you'll say "maybe later." At 16, you'll say "Dad. Seriously?" One evening he'll ask, you'll say no, and he'll just nod and set his glove back on the shelf in the garage. He won't ask again. Neither of you will notice that was the last time. A writer named Tim Urban once did the math on his own life. By the time he finished high school, he had already used up 93% of all the in-person time he would ever get with his parents. Most of us land somewhere close to that. What's left is a few Thanksgivings. Some Christmases. Maybe a hospital waiting room. Then one day you're 40, cleaning out that garage, and the glove is still on the shelf. Leather gone stiff. A ball still tucked in the pocket. He kept it ready all those years. Just in case you said yes. If he's still here, you still have some of that last 7%. Go find two gloves. He'll pretend his arm is fine.

Call a rich man broke and he’ll laugh. Call a strong man weak and he’ll laugh. Call a genius dumb and he’ll laugh. Their hate doesn’t need to offend you, don’t defend against idiocy.

One thing nobody fucking tells you when you arrive on planet Earth is that you've got to look after your mental. Seriously, this place is an absolute madhouse. You've got to watch what you're thinking, what you're dwelling on and what sort of bollocks you're allowing to squat in your skull. People genuinely believe every thought they have is their own. Meanwhile, we've invented technology that would've had the entire population burnt at the stake 400 years ago. Radio waves, frequencies, algorithms that know you're having a mental breakdown before you've even realised you're in a shit mood. And we're supposed to believe none of this stuff influences our thinking? Fucking hell. Your mind is everything in this dimension. Consciousness affects how you experience reality. Spend enough time entertaining miserable thoughts and you'll end up walking around with your own personal thundercloud, wondering why everyone you meet seems to be another miserable bastard. And the people running this circus? Fear is practically a business model. Keep everyone anxious, angry, distracted and arguing over absolute bollocks. Whether someone's pulling the strings or simply cashing in on the madness, you're still the poor sod paying for it with your peace of mind. So here's my advice. Become fucking delusional. No, seriously. DELUSIONAL. Start thinking about what you actually want to happen. Talk about it. Picture it. Become so absurdly convinced it's possible that people start looking at you like you've escaped from a psychiatric ward wearing the doctor's uniform. I've seen what happens when you stop obsessing over everything that could go wrong and start putting that same energy into what you want. Your whole outlook changes. You start acting differently, noticing things you previously ignored, and making moves you would've talked yourself out of. What you constantly focus on grows in your mind. So why the fuck are people spending their entire existence watering the weeds and then complaining there's no flowers? And remember, you're supposed to be here. Somehow, out of every possible character that could've been spawned into this bizarre fucking simulation, you ended up conscious, surrounded by eight billion confused lunatics arguing over who understands the game while nobody can even find the bloody instruction manual. That's fucking hilarious when you think about it. Get back on the horse. Choose thoughts that actually do you some good. Make somebody laugh, lift someone's spirits, and stop letting miserable people drag you into their own personal sewage system. Become delusional. Feel good. Help other people feel good. You're already participating in a reality nobody can fully explain, surrounded by people who think they've got it all figured out. Might as well start playing the fucking game your way.

“Harry, I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don’t plan it. Don’t wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men’s store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee. Like this.”

All of your regrets will disappear the moment you win. Imagine winning but instead of relishing in the moment you immediately start focusing on all the mistakes you made in the past. This feels incredible but I messed up along the way so my accomplishment is actually meaningless Simply doesn't happen. Gotta stop ruminating on your L's and trying to justify or explain them. Could've done this or should've done that. Complete waste of time. Make your life so incredibly simple and just win. Only solution to literally everything is to get right back up and win

I mentioned that my garage door was making a sound. An American immediately said, "I got a guy." He did not ask what the sound was. He did not ask what kind of door. He produced a guy on the basis of the word garage. I asked who the guy was. He said, "Just a guy." He did not have a company name. He had a first name and a phone number in his phone saved as "Mike Garage." That is the contact name. Mike Garage. As though Garage is his surname. As though there is a family. I asked how he found this guy. "My brother-in-law used him." I asked if the brother-in-law was satisfied. He thought about it. Then he said, "He's still standing." The house is still standing. That is the entire review. Inside I said: THEY DO NOT KEEP RECORDS. THEY KEEP LOYALTIES. I called Mike Garage. He answered from inside a vehicle. There was wind. He said he could come Tuesday between eleven and four. Between eleven and four. A window of five hours. In my country this would be a scandal. Here it is generous. He gave me a window at all. Some guys do not give you a window. Some guys say "Tuesday" and that is the whole appointment. He came at 1:40. He fixed it in twenty minutes. He charged me less than I expected and he did not take a card, only cash or an app I had never heard of. Before leaving he looked at my water heater, which I had not mentioned, and said, "That's gonna go." I asked when. "Couple years." I asked what I should do. He said, "I'll give you a guy." He gave me a guy. Mike Garage has a guy. The guy has a guy. There is a network beneath this country made entirely of men named after their function, and none of them advertise, and all of them are busy. Inside I said: THERE IS A SECOND NATION HERE. IT HAS NO SIGNS. IT IS ENTERED ONLY BY INTRODUCTION. I have been given four guys since. I have a guy for trees. I did not know I needed a guy for trees. I have trees now, apparently. They are my responsibility. A man named Rick told me so and then left.
