Ascension, one of the best-known emulated World of Warcraft server projects, has announced that all of its WoW realms will permanently shut down on September 5, 2026
The shutdown is part of a mutual agreement between Ascension and Blizzard and comes nearly 10 years after the project began.
Support will stay active until the servers close, and Ascension says it will still release the remaining content it has planned. After that, the team will move on to something completely new that has nothing to do with WoW or Blizzard.
By the shutdown date, all WoW-related content will also be removed from the Ascension website and its social media channels.
