New #globalsurgery study on access to quality surgical care!
KM#1:⬆️Govt. health expenditure is significantly associated w/ ⬆️access to quality surgical care.
KM#2: ⬆️DAH improves access to quality care for non-surgical disease, not surgical disease.

Excited to have “A country-level comparison of access to quality surgical and non-surgical healthcare from 1990-2016” published in PLOSONE! journals.plos.org/plosone/ar…
“We found that significant gaps in improvement exist between surgical and non-surgical access and quality when using these sub-indices. Over the past 26 years, the gap in improvement between surgical and non-surgical Health Access and Quality has worsened in (1/2)
Honored to be able to present (virtually!) at ACS Clinical Congress this year. We were able to turn this abstract into a paper, published recently in World Journal of Surgery (Link: rdcu.be/b7Sif). Thanks to everyone involved! @HarvardPGSSC @safesurgery2020

Love it! Rural surgery = global surgery in most contexts
Compared access to obstetric care at 2 hours (lancet indicator) & 30 minutes (@acog guideline). Need to improve access for rural populations and re-evaluate how lancet indicators are applied for emergency cesarean & surgical care. @HarvardPGSSC @CSPH_BWH @LinaRoaS @JohnMeara

Presenting early results for the role of governance on health at @uniteforsight. I had great conversations with some great people. Stay tuned as I continue to work on this and start to explore how surgical systems are affected by these large driving forces!
