From Jan 21 👇... All around the country, the conversation is on the Bison. If you are really listening, this didn't happen overnight. Results like this past Saturday are built on consistent habits stacked over time. This is one of those consistent habits paying dividends. #GoBison – at Omaha, NE
Spoke to the NDSU Football team this morning about sleep, accountability, and what it looks like to raise the standard from the inside out.
Every team has gaps. Closing them starts with awareness… The Bison were locked in! #GoBison

Two years ago, a program committed to making sleep and daily readiness a habit instead of a slogan.
Saturday, that program won its first game as an FBS program.
I am not going to tell you sleep won that game. I will tell you the programs that take it seriously give themselves a better chance every week.
Proud of that staff, and proud of those players. – at Omaha, NE

Coaches, if you missed @drcherimah on @SXMCollege this morning, go find it!
20 years of Sleep Science saying the same thing, and the best programs are finally acting on it. Sleep is not a soft topic. It is the foundation everything else is built on.
I have experienced it as a coach and as a dad of three college athletes. Sleep is the edge hiding in plain sight, and those treating it as a daily habit are the ones separating themselves.
Grateful for voices like Dr. Mah and for the programs and coaches who are listening! This is at the top of what our athletes need…

We need more of this at sports of all levels!
This past January, @CoachBMcCaslin stood in front of @NDSUfootball for the 2nd year in a row to present on sleep science.
The Super Bowl champion @Seahawks work year-round with @drcherimah to do the same.
The best programs are all arriving at the same place.

Programs don't rise by accident. They rise because the culture is real.
Kindred FB @kindredfootball has built one of North Dakota's toughest rooms. Athletes who show up ready to compete.
Proud to be part of their daily routine this season.
Let's work! @eBurgad

1997 was my first time in the Fargodome. To say I have respect for this program is an understatement. Proud as hell to be working with the Bison, using @XaScore as part of their daily process.
Can’t wait to see what they do in this new league and happy to be along for the ride. #GoBison !!
Goals are important. Systems are critical
@NDSUFootball has never lacked for goals. The trophies say enough.
Today, they added to their systems that get them there: A system for sleep and recovery. A system for readiness. A system for connection.
Championships are built in the details nobody sees. Proud to be on the roster with the Bison! Let's go!

The Head Coaches I’ve spoken to recently are saying two things: I know I need to figure it out. I don’t know where to start.
Unless you as a HC, or someone on your staff is using AI every day already, you need someone to help you get started.
It’s like anything (good) we do in this game. Get reps and stack wins.
After 22 years of coaching college football and now 3 years of using AI to help me be a founder and business owner, I can clearly see the immense opportunity of AI in what I did every single day as Coach…
My 2 cents, connect with Coach Wells!

Most coaches have had this moment. I'm not proud of mine...
A player isn’t practicing well.
You think it’s effort.
Then later you find out they were carrying something heavy you never knew about.
Or worse, you don't find out...
"What would a better coach do?" Awareness changes everything. – at Elkhorn, NE

With Show Me Qualifier this weekend in KC, this is something we were just talking about…
Most teams look similar on Day 1.
Day 2 is where things start to separate.
It’s not always talent.
It’s not always tactics.
It’s who can maintain.
Sleep. Recovery. Emotional steadiness.
The part most people don’t see, until it shows up.
Curious what other coaches see late in tournament weekends.

After 20 years coaching, I’ve seen what happens when you don’t really know how your players are doing.
The NCAA is right to push this conversation.
Performance tech should make coaches better decision-makers, not just better data collectors.
That’s what we’re building at XA Score.
The NCAA published new recommendations on performance technology, giving schools a road map around policy, data management and responsible use.
The focus is on student-athlete health and well-being, collecting what is necessary and doing so transparently.

We’ve built entire systems around training load.
But we still guess on how athletes are actually responding to it.
That gap shows up mid-season.
And by then… it’s too late. – at Elkhorn, NE
Most programs track what they do.
Very few track how athletes are responding.
Sleep.
Soreness.
Weight trends.
Stress.
That’s where availability is won or lost.

Seeing a lot of coaches share this, almost pleading with their athletes through socials.
Nothing moves the needle more than sleep, nutrition, hydration, and recovery done consistently.
The gap isn’t knowledge. It’s turning it into daily habits.
Coaches, we hear you !!
There is a way to give this some teeth. @XAScore

Coaches are here early for the Nebraska Strength Coaches Clinic.
@NebStrength
If you’ve never been around strength coaches, here’s what you learn fast:
They care about one thing above all else.
Player availability.
The strongest program in the room doesn’t win.
The program with the most athletes available does.
Looking forward to the conversations today.

"By the time performance drops, the warning signs were already there."
Thank you @carvperformance for bringing this to light... "You’ll see “smoke” (movement changes) before the "fire" (performance failure or injury)..." - Coach Carvajal
This is where the coaching side gets interesting. Most athletes don’t realize their “normal” is already a compromised state. If they’re consistently under-slept, their 70% starts to feel like 100%.
They adjust movement strategies without knowing it.
The performance drop shows up slowly, but the efficiency changes are already happening.

I was in the room with @NDSUfootball a month ago. The standards Coach Wells describes here are real, and they’re intentional.
This move didn’t happen overnight. Throughout this program, they operate with FBS standards.
And one of those standards? They treat sleep like performance fuel. 👊🤘#GoBison

This is how you build culture.
You intentionally create systems like this to MEASURE it.
I wish every coach would take 2 minutes to check XA Score out.
It will help win games AND change kids lives.

Here's something that should bother every coach:
We preach impact every day, but most states have literally zero way to measure it beyond wins.
Only 24 states in the national coaching study. Texas went all-in (athlete voice, statewide data). @THSCAcoaches
The rest? Blind. No local pulse. 🧵👇
