Toriyama started the Vegeta armor trend with Neko Majin Z and it's stuck since. Through Yo Son Goku and into modern DB, but in the original run Vegeta doesn't repeat an outfit between arcs and EVERY outfit is less saiyan/freeza influenced than the prior one.
