Here's another reaction clip from this debate with Melanie Thompson from the Coalition of Trafficking in Women. By viewing prostitution as a symbol of violence against women, we actually make it harder for women in the sex industry to work safely. Full reaction vid on YouTube!

Penalization of prostitution clients in France: ten years later, has the law changed anything? A decade after France passed a law criminalising the purchase of sexual services, authorities insist they are taking a tough approach to prostitution networks. Adopted on 13 October 2016, after intense debate, the law punishes clients of sex workers with fines of €1,500 and up to €3,500 for repeat offences. The 2016 law also decriminalised soliciting and set up support for people to leave prostitution. Ten years on, however, habits have changed. Once highly visible in public spaces, prostitution has shifted to private locations – short-term rental flats or hotel rooms – organised via online platforms, making it difficult for authorities to identify clients breaking the law. “Clients are ordinary men,” the Central office for the fight against human trafficking, OCRETH noted. “Clients are of all ages and from all social backgrounds.” Claire Quidet, spokesperson for the Mouvement du Nid, a sex worker advocacy group, points to the low number of sanctions against clients, and their uneven distribution around France: only 11,000 acts have been penalised, and 60 percent of them in the Paris region. “Victims are increasingly invisible. They are regularly moved, from one week to the next, from one city to another, one apartment to another, to evade authorities, neighbours or associations,” Lénaïg Le Bail, former head of the OCRETH, told the French AFP news agency. OnlyFans just changed the rules on AI content and most creators have no idea. Deepfakes are now a permanent ban. Even AI-enhanced photos need labels. Here is what you need to know before it costs you your account: buff.ly/z7bLACf

🚨 OnlyFans’ owner just died, raising questions about the future of the biggest platform in the adult creator economy. At the same time, lawmakers keep pushing new rules that affect how creators earn and operate. Here’s all the latest news you need to know: 1️⃣ OnlyFans Owner Dies, Platform Future Unclear Leonid Radvinsky, the majority owner of OnlyFans, has passed away from cancer. He played a key role in scaling the platform into one of the largest income sources for adult creators. Now questions are being raised around ownership, potential sale talks, and long-term platform direction. 2️⃣ Section 230 Reform Back on the Table The U.S. Senate held a hearing on potential changes to Section 230. This law protects platforms from liability for user-generated content. If weakened, platforms could face more lawsuits and stricter moderation pressure. That has direct implications for adult content platforms. 3️⃣ Brazil Moves Forward With Age Verification Enforcement Brazil released new guidelines requiring adult platforms to implement stronger age verification systems. The law applies globally and includes fines based on platform revenue. This affects access, traffic, and compliance for international creators. 4️⃣ Utah Signs Porn Tax + VPN Restrictions Into Law Utah passed a law taxing adult content and holding platforms responsible if users bypass restrictions. It also targets VPN usage. This adds both financial pressure and tighter control over how users access content. 5️⃣ Ohio Advances Strict AV + Deepfake Bill Ohio passed a bill requiring age verification and introducing penalties for deepfake adult content. Fines can reach up to $100,000 per day for violations. Another example of states tightening enforcement. 6️⃣ Court Ruling Expands Legal Protection for Sex Workers A case in New South Wales ruled that failing to pay a sex worker can be prosecuted as assault. This reframes how consent and payment are treated under the law. 7️⃣ FTC Reopens Discussion on Subscription Rules The FTC is reviewing rules that could require platforms to make canceling subscriptions as easy as signing up. If implemented, this could affect how fan subscriptions and recurring income models operate. 💬 If you had to pick one thing to pay attention to from this list, what would it be?

International Sex Worker Rights Day is not a hashtag, it is a response to systems that treat our labor as profitable but our existence as disposable. So here are our demands. Not vibes or empowerment fluff, demands.
