We need to avoid any messaging that manipulatives are only for those who struggle or "Only if you need them" This stigmitizes mathematical modelling which is critical at ALL levels of learning. Concrete modelling is a critical/integral part of strong mathematical thinking.

This is a must see for anyone who likes playing with Geometry. It's the most fun that I've had in a while.

If I was going to stop doing something as a teacher, it would be to stop assigning a grade, level, percent, mark, etc., and make sure the majority of the feedback is given during the learning process. School should be about learning, not getting the highest grade. #BookCampPD

Destreaming doesn’t diminish skilled trades. Apprenticeships are viable & worthwhile post-secondary destinations. It’s the pathways towards them that are the issue.
Streaming positions trades as alternative options. Destreaming can make them part of the main menu.

Hey elementary teacher friends- have you considered all the ways that we stream kids in K - 8? If you think we don't, take a closer look at our practices. This is not just "a secondary thing". #YRDSB #YRDSBNTIP #YRDSBLiteracy

Wondering about spiralling the new MTH1W for the fall. Watch @AlexOverwijk and some Ss describe their experiences. Anyone interested in planning this way for September? #YRDSBmath #SVS_yrdsb dcp.edu.gov.on.ca/en/learnin…

LOVING this sketch by @evalottchen to reflect on the year. Would work perfectly as a background in Slides or Jamboard - have your Ss reflect once we are back in January - or at the end of the semester!

Did you know that academic streaming is older than Canada itself? Or that Ontario has tried many times to fix streaming by...streaming? 🤔
As educators across Ontario prepare for destreaming, it's important to understand its origins, so enjoy this 2-minute history lesson:

THIS!!
How are students showing us what they know? How are they, formally and informally, demonstrating their knowledge? Does "COP" collection of evidence have to look the same for every student? No!
Thank you, @aledaklassen! @OMCAmath

Hey teachers, which tech tool has saved you during covid? For me it has been @GoogleForEdu Jamboard - I have had my students in groups working on a jamboard together. As the teacher I could visit each board & see their work. This was from a great @nrichmaths task:
