Banger of a political ad. And a powerful reminder: Israel is the only place in the Middle East where Jews, Muslims, Christians, Druze, Bahá’ís, atheists, and people of every faith—or none—can cast a ballot in free & fair elections.

Quick, someone ask Mamdani what ethnic group the overwhelming majority of "Eastern Europeans" in South Brooklyn are, what their opinions are on Israel, and what role socialism played in them ending up there.
New Yorkers experience the abundant contributions of our Eastern European neighbors every day. As we pair syrniki with sour cream in Brighton Beach, look in wonder at a Chagall painting at MoMA and banter with babushkas in Rego Park.
Last week, we celebrated Eastern European heritage at Gracie Mansion, because the story of New York City cannot be told without the story of our Eastern European neighbors.
From new immigrants to those who've lived here for generations, Eastern Europeans have built New York City. We owe them a city they can afford to call home.

First time back in Tel Aviv since this hall wasn’t filled with images of hostages.
I’m here to cover the election which has been billed as one of the most important in Israel’s history.
There was a moment when the plane landed (after everyone applauded which they always do) and we were on the coach to get to the terminal.
An older Jewish Israeli lady stood up and gave her seat to an Arab Israeli lady who was carrying a baby in her arms - it was a reminder of how far the real Israel is from the visions of haters.
On Tuesday nearly 2million Arabs in Israel will have a chance to vote in this election. They are the only Arabs in the Middle East who get to vote.

A Jewish Museum just opened in Baghdad. A city that was one-third Jewish in the early twentieth century till Iraq’s Jews were purged, most escaping to Israel. Now it’s a monument to a lost civilization.
As an Iraqi Jew, when can I visit?

This is maybe the greatest disquisition on the definition of Zionism I’ve ever heard.
It’s all encompassing in an irrefutable way.

We call on France to exercise restraint when dispersing the freedom fighters on the streets of Paris. These brave warriors for justice must receive immediate humanitarian aid, and their safety must be guaranteed in accordance with international law. Failure to comply will leave us no choice but to bring a case before the ICJ, in close cooperation with that renowned champion of human rights, Afghanistan.

The best explanation you will hear about why antizionism is just a reinvented antisemitism:

When Jews were ethnically cleansed from Arab countries, vast amounts of land and property were taken from them.
Land stolen is estimated at 100,000 km²..... 4.5 times the size of Israel. $263 billion in assets taken.

Interesting how British (a mixture of regions) the Canadian accent sounded as recently as 1988. U.S.-style rhoticity yet to fully dominate.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The speaker in the 1988 CBC clip is Katherine Barber, born in England in 1959 who moved to Canada as a child. Standard Canadian English is rhotic and has been for generations, unlike the post's claim.

The UN accused Israel of genocide, and one of the 3 commissioners behind that accusation just admitted, in front of a live audience, that they never independently verified one of the most explosive statistics in their own report.
Chris Sidoti insisted that his commission conducts independent investigations and doesn't simply rely on media reports.
Except paragraph 21 of their official genocide report claims that 83% of those killed in Gaza were civilians. The footnote cites The Guardian.
When asked whether the commission had actually verified that figure, Sidoti admitted:
“No, we didn't… we literally do not know.”
Now watch how this works.
The Guardian publishes a statistic. The UN cites The Guardian. TIME and other media orgs then repeat the statistic while reporting on the UN's genocide findings, giving readers the impression that they're looking at an independently established fact.
The media quotes the UN, the UN quotes the media, and somewhere along the way a newspaper's claim gets transformed into an authoritative finding of international investigators.
This is how information gets laundered. Each new citation adds another layer of credibility without necessarily adding a single piece of independent evidence.
But the commissioner himself admits they never verified the number.
We're talking about an official UN report accusing the Jewish state of the gravest crime in international law, circulated around the world as authoritative evidence, while one of its own authors acknowledges that they literally do not know whether a central statistic they published is accurate.
How many other claims in that report have been through the same process?

An extremely damaging clip showing how the UN commission’s report accusing Israel of “genocide” (when no such legal body has claimed this) is nonsense, straight from one of the authors himself who cannot defend his position and furthermore has publicly contradicted himself…to even the UN!
