It really is not nearly big enough of a story of how historically many trans people got elected last night - showing that the transphobia which is so prevalent on here does not map onto the majority of voters. Ergo, transphobia as an electoral strategy has soundly been defeated.
Not to be outdone, but Michigan also elected its first ever openly transgender state legislator last night with Joanna Whaley winning #HD02 (Harris+1.5) on the outskirts of Detroit.
Not only did she win, she won by 25 points! A huge overperformance!

The fact that some of them flipped R+10 districts and counties is a sign that my theories about LGBT achieving a cultural victory so extreme that even the right becomes indifferent+trans as a culture war issue dying and becoming boomer coded are accurate.

Guys, guys, I just called my Dem Congressman's office to tell him I don't want Jeffries as speaker and before I was even done with my preamble, the staffer said, let me guess what you're going to say...he said he's been hearing it all day and then he asked me what I'd like to see Democrats do and had a 10 minute conversation with me. He even asked me to repeat some items from my laundry list so he could write it down.
I also called my Senator. Who has also been getting calls about new leadership.
