To trust your #data ’s context, you must understand it. Knowing the who, what, when, where, and why of your data means knowing your #metadata, otherwise known as #metadatamanagement.

Interesting pattern on "refineToOrDie": refine a type when you know for sure it's more precise that the initial one (Throwable => IOException for example) but if you fail, make it a catastrophic error. So you are serious about this, not just hope it will be ok #ScalaIO19

In programming, we are used to deal with too generic types such as Throwable or even Any and do some "good enough" computation on them.
I think there is tremendous safety improvements dealing with more precise types, but we need better tools (exit Try or Future) and generics
Zeenea Tech retweeted
In a context of pure FP, here is the meaning of some types:
- Any: will not be used, because you can give anything (Unit, String, Throwable or whatever), you don't pattern match on it
- Nothing: will never happen, because you never call it or throw error, but last one is illegal

First awesome thing: ZIO keeps track of the error (like an Either) so you know when something can fail or not (Nothing on left) and you can handle that easily without relying on the too generic type Throwable 👍
