I just knew this moment to this particular designer ☺️ Zendaya as “Marie” in Netflix’s “Malcolm & Marie” wearing a custom Halter Neck Cut-Out Lamé Gown designed by Queens Native Jason Rembert of Aliétte NY. Costume Design by LAW Roach.

NYC electeds like Zohran, Chi Osse, FLAUNT delivery of affordable housing, and their DSA supporters amplify, talking down to locals who claim displacement. @TheRealScourge exposes these buildings asking for rents that natives/locals can’t afford. Gentrification. Share widely

This is an example of natural water filtration. Most of the drinkable water our ancestors consumed in our villages passed through this type of filtration.

Seeing women my age who went thru this always gets me, cause man I never knew how privileged I was to grow up with family and protection. The Cyntoia Brown story gets to me too cause I never got how these girls could be punished and institutionalized so harshly
Keysha’s mother was a heroin addict who sold her own 10-year-old daughter to a pimp for drug money. The girl was violated the same day and put to work on Figueroa Street before she finished elementary school. She never saw the inside of a junior high or a high school. The only education she ever got was how to survive on a corner in South Central LA.
Her pimp beat her for years. Dragged her across the pavement, shattered her tibia and fibula, broke her ankle - and sent her right back out to the corner that same night with a broken leg. She was his top earner and he was going to use her until there was nothing left.
At 17 she tried to kill him. She waited until he fell asleep, superglued him shut, and when he woke up and came for her she drove an ice pick into his side and punctured his lung. She was tried as an adult and got nine years for manslaughter.
When she got out at 26 she had no education, no family, no one waiting for her. She went straight back to the only thing anyone had ever taught her how to do. This time in downtown LA where the money is worse and the streets are harder.
Her mother overdosed on heroin and died. Keysha didn’t go to the funeral. She says she didn’t feel anything when they told her. The woman who sold her for a bag of dope was gone and it changed nothing.
She’s 39 now. She’s never been in a relationship. Never had a first kiss. Never had a sweet 16. She says the only time she ever felt loved was when she was being used by someone. When a man was paying her that was affection. That was the closest thing to love she ever knew.
“I wanted to know why didn’t I have a happy ever after? I’ve never had a happy ever after - or a happy ever start.”
Is Keysha a survivor of the streets - or living proof that some children never had a chance from the day they were born?

I fell out.

Raven says she felt angry after seeing Gabourey be embraced for her size vs the era Raven came up in. It’s about an hour and 10 minutes into the conversation, as they were basically playing a game of keep or kill and the topic of fatphobia in Hollywood came up.

Gabby paid Raven’s slave owner no mind and spoke directly to her, that’s what I’m talking about because no one is talking to YOU!!

I used to think they were joking, but they genuinely, unironically think you can run a far left candidate in every single part of the country, and they expect every candidate to be far left whether it’s in New York City or Mississippi. They can’t conceptualize someone not as far left as them.

As someone who lives in NC & like Mamdani….he nothing to do with us wanting to maintain our rights in our state. Or any place in the south. GOP fucking up & wanting control back did this. I need y’all to stop.
The entire Democratic Party owes a massive debt of gratitude to Zohran Mamdani.
Before his rapid rise, the party was largely rudderless, suffering from a loss of direction, momentum, and self-confidence. By drifting away from the working class, the party naturally saw voters walk away in response.
Mamdani single-handedly corrected the course, bringing vital energy, ideological clarity, and an authentic connection back to the very people who had been left behind.
Without his influence, the party’s current standing would look very different.

Extremely disappointed in NYC voting YES on ballot proposals :/ Although we are blue (cough cough we have politicians like Kathy …) The proposals were a means for the “efficiency” of not hearing any impacted communities voice. I’m saddened

Now, what if we get another Eric Adams or Cuomo in the future and now we have less oversight and say on what happens in our city?
This is gonna speed up gentrification
