On the way back from 2 weeks of travelling around Europe on the trains. Everything ran to plan on the continent… so of course @SW_Help leave us stuck at Basingstoke for an hour for our very final train of the trip 👍🏻

Left the car in Andover at the start of the trip, as we knew it was rail replacement buses past there on the way back. Thank Christ we did. If we hadn’t, then we’d have been leaving Waterloo at 2:50 and only reaching Salisbury at 7 😳 hope some people get hefty delay repayments

Just spent 2 weeks travelling round Europe on trains. No issues. En route home with @SW_Help , and we’re stuck at Basingstoke for an hour cos they won’t hold a shuttle going to Andover, to allow for a late running service from Waterloo, that customers were told to get for Andover

Well my most local City game of the season was definitely a success. Most assured performance going forwards that I’ve seen from us in a while, could have had more than 3. Decent game for the neutral as well, can see how Taunton score a lot but also concede plenty too

A winning start, but we massively got away with it – at Tisbury, England

Surprised the amended timetable isn’t already in. Can hear trains passing from my house, going by at all random times except when they’re timetabled to. Even if you had 100% reliable trains, if SMD’s gonna be a regular thing now then surely more redoubling is the only solution? – at Crewkerne, England
Hot and dry conditions can lead to Soil Moisture Deficit, when the ground below our tracks dries out and disturbs rails and sleepers. When this happens, trains must travel at lower speeds, and we may have to make timetable changes. Find out more: southwesternrailway.com/trav…

No better going by road either, A303 at Stonehenge is almost always a pain. Wonder which will happen first (if ever)- Stonehenge tunnel, or more Waterloo-Exeter redoubling 🙃 Just fortunate that here is a nice place to be in the summer, so no major reason to always travel

Coulda been better, coulda been worse. Malvern (A) on a Saturday woulda been nice, and yet another Boxing Day away. But, the league putting both Chippenham and Gloucester fixtures on Saturdays suggests they might have a bit of sense in terms of games that should get good crowds – at Taunton, England

So the season started with a Parkrun PB en route to Worthing, and ends with a replacement Parkrun PB en route back to Bath for our final game in the NLS for at least a season, and the last game under this floodlight. Can’t say I’ll be too sad if a lot of this squad isn’t retained

Personal highlights were that Tillson winner at Hampton, and not getting relegated on my wedding day. Personal lowlights were getting battered 4-0 on my stag do, and that game at Chippenham when it all started to unravel

However, getting Scott Bartlett in as manager is a good move (not least because today he was dressed like a German at a wedding in the dugout). If he gets the resources to build the squad he wants, and stays loyal to the club, then I’m hopeful for a better one next season

Chippenham (H). The rail replacement bus didn’t turn up, so a lovely lady and her sister gave us a lift to Yeovil Junction and we made the train with 2 minutes to spare. Anyway, we’ve had it and we’re going down, but let’s at least drag them down with us eh @BathCity_FC

Well then. Two poor sides, both going down. Chippenham were better, no question. This is not a great City side, and we are where we are for a reason. But the last game I watch as an unmarried man, involving a 90+4 min winner against local rivals, was lovely

Today’s exertions were a train to Bodmin Parkway, and biking to Wadebridge via the hills of Lanhydrock, and the Camel trail, for Wadebridge Town 1-3 Wendron United. What a ground, and what a way to get to a game

Newton Abbot Spurs v Bishop’s Lydeard. Is it low-scoring for the Peninsula League so far? Yes Is it still an enthralling game? Well 2nd bottom are 1-0 up at 4th, so yes Am I regretting not going to Tonbridge? Absolutely not Am I regretting not bringing my shades? Absolutely yes

Spurs hit the bar 3 times and have a penalty saved. Backs to the wall stuff from Lydeard, couldn’t see them holding on for the win, but fair play to them!

Couldn’t face a trip up to Bath today if I’m being honest. So instead got on the bike to Bridport v Bovey Tracey in the Peninsula East. 1st v 2nd, Bovey 5 behind with 4 games in hand, but only lost 1 league game all season… 7-6 against Bridport. Be fuming if this ends 0-0 😂

Thankfully that was far from a 0-0 😂 hard to emulate the reverse fixture, but 5-2 was still very good entertainment! Glorious sunset sky on the ride home too

Enfield Town (A) via a night in a £35 capsule pod, and Fulham Palace Parkrun. Point was a fair result. Been a fun-ish 22 hours in the capital, but leaving feeling somewhat deflated about our survival chances

Spent my stag do watching us lose 4-0 at home in a relegation 6 pointer. The hangover and beer fear isn’t actually that bad today; waking up and remembering this happened is the worst thing (along with my paltry crossbar challenge attempt) Enfield away next weekend is huge
