Sunday; Blockchain Security, Tokenized Finance and the Next Wave of Builders
Whatâs Coming Up Today...
WAX BRIDGE EXPLOIT EXPOSES A $90,500 SMART-CONTRACT FLAW
A vulnerability in the WAX Multi-Chain Bridge allowed an attacker to withdraw approximately $90,500 in digital assets without paying for them.
An investigation published by Bitquery on 24 October found that the attacker exploited a negative-fee validation flaw to extract assets across WAX, Solana and Ethereum. Most of the stolen funds reached HitBTC deposit addresses within 38 minutes.
WAX subsequently replaced the affected contract code and introduced transfer limits. The incident highlights how a small validation error can create significant cross-chain security risks.

DEUTSCHE BANK PREPARES CRYPTO CUSTODY LAUNCH AS TRADITIONAL FINANCE EXPANDS ONCHAIN
Deutsche Bank is preparing to launch its first digital-asset service in Germany within weeks, marking a significant step in the lender's expansion into cryptocurrency custody.
According to Reuters, the initial service will support major cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ether, with plans to expand into Asian financial centres in 2027.
The bank also intends to explore stablecoin-related services, tokenised deposits and blockchain-based securities such as digital bonds.
The development highlights how established financial institutions are increasingly treating digital assets and blockchain infrastructure as additional services alongside conventional banking.
CIRCLE TARGETS 40 NEW MARKETS AS STABLECOIN ADOPTION EXPANDS
Circle plans to expand into approximately 40 emerging and developing markets as demand for stablecoins and blockchain-based financial services grows.
Chief executive Jeremy Allaire told Reuters that markets across Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America and the Middle East are experiencing increased demand for digital-dollar services and internet-based financial infrastructure.
The company's expansion plans come as financial institutions increasingly explore stablecoins for cross-border settlement and digital payments.
For emerging markets, the development raises important questions about access to dollar-denominated financial services, payment efficiency, regulatory compliance and the role stablecoins could play in the wider digital economy.
JAPAN'S MAJOR BANKS COMPLETE JOINT YEN STABLECOIN PAYMENT TRIAL
Japan's three major banking groups have completed a proof-of-concept trial involving a jointly issued yen-denominated stablecoin designed to improve cross-border corporate payments.
The initiative involves Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group and Mizuho Financial Group, with Mitsubishi Corporation participating in the payment use case.
The trial examined the issuance, transfer and redemption of digital money for transactions involving domestic and overseas business operations.
The banks announced the completion of the proof of concept on Friday, 16 October. The development adds to the growing international effort to connect established banking systems with blockchain-based settlement infrastructure.
TOKENISED STOCKS FACE CORPORATE RESISTANCE AS WALL STREET EXPLORES BLOCKCHAIN TRADING
The push to bring traditional shares onto blockchain platforms is encountering resistance from some of the companies whose stocks could be traded through the proposed systems.
A report by Barron's highlighted objections from nine companies among 63 approached by OKXICE, a proposed tokenised-securities venture involving crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange.
The concerns underline the challenges facing blockchain-based securities markets, including questions about liquidity, investor protections, corporate rights and how tokenised shares should interact with existing market structures.
While tokenisation continues to attract financial institutions, the development demonstrates that bringing traditional securities onchain requires more than the technology itself: companies, regulators and market operators must also agree on the rules.

PEAQ AND SEI FEATURE IN TUESDAY'S SCHEDULED TOKEN-UNLOCK CALENDAR
Token-unlock trackers list scheduled releases for PEAQ and SEI today. Estimates differ between platforms, particularly around the quantities attributed to individual vesting allocations, so the figures should be treated as calendar estimates rather than confirmed on-chain transfers.
Scheduled unlocks can increase the amount of tokens available to recipients, but they do not by themselves establish that tokens have been sold or that market prices will fall. Subsequent wallet movements and exchange flows provide a clearer picture of any market impact.
CURRENTBLOCK WATCH
Shardeum's network transition, Unichain's interoperability roadmap and the cancellation of Enugu Blockchain Week headline Tuesday's developments, while token-unlock calendars keep PEAQ and SEI in focus.
