#epitwitter Observational studies DO provide evidence! RCTs are NOT immune to bias! Why do we keep needing to yell this? Also EPI is SO much more than epidemic modeling & conducting RCTs! For all we need #causalinference to quantify effects (vs. mere associations) @societyforepi
This article is better than its headline (can we just stop the antiquated tradition of letting late-night copyeditors write the titles that may be all anyone reads of our long articles that we labor over?), "Models vs. Evidence". bostonreview.net/science-nat…

Reminding listeners of the dire consequences of health systems too weak to sustain care for life-threatening diseases—like TB, HIV, diabetes, cardiovascular disease—during #COVID19 pandemic. Once again, it lays bare the results of systemic, chronic inequalities.

This thread brings receipts to what I’ve been saying: those of us in public health who are not in government thought COVID would be brought under control because we knew these plans existed. What we didn’t know is how utterly completely the plans would be ignored!
Since this video has been blowing up, I thought it might be useful to annotate some of the analysis. Here are the receipts.

I've lost track of time. A reminder that today is also World TB day. In many ways TB is different from #COVIDー19. It is slow and stealthy and has been in humans for (at least) millennia. Yet it remains one of the most important infectious killers.

As a PhD student, I can tell you the most efficient way to socially distance is to talk about your research. If you don’t have a research project, nobody has to know, just make one up. All PhD research topics sound like nonsense anyway.
